Marți, 7 ianuarie 2025, Isaia 51:1-23

Capitolul 51 aduce un mesaj de încurajare rămășiței credincioase care se află în mijlocul provocărilor și necazurilor. Profetul Isaia i-a îndemnat să se întoarcă cu toată inima la Dumnezeu: „Ascultați-Mă, voi, care umblați după neprihănire, care căutați pe Domnul! Priviți spre stânca din care ați fost ciopliți, spre gaura gropii din care ați fost scoși.” (vers. 1)

Trăind în vremea în care au domnit regii Ozia, Ahaz și Zedechia, Isaia a profețit de-a lungul a peste patru decenii dificile, timp în care a scris una dintre cele mai frumoase cărți ale Bibliei. 

Capitolul de astăzi poate fi împărțit în două secțiuni:

1.     Domnul mângâie rămășița credincioasă (vers. 1-16)

„Eu, Eu vă mângâi. Dar cine ești tu, ca să te temi de omul cel muritor și de fiul omului, care trece ca iarba? Eu pun cuvintele Mele în gura ta și te acopăr cu umbra mâinii Mele, ca să întind ceruri noi și să întemeiez un pământ nou și să zic Sionului: ‘Tu ești poporul Meu!’” (vers. 12, 16). Dumnezeu Își asumă responsabilitatea ocrotirii acestui popor, datorită legământului pe care l-a încheiat cu Avraam, întemeietorul Israelului. Este impresionantă loialitatea lui Dumnezeu, în ciuda lipsei de consecvență și de loialitate a evreilor.

2.     Domnul mângâie Ierusalimul (vers. 17-23)

„Trezește-te, trezește-te! Scoală-te, Ierusalime, care ai băut din mâna Domnului potirul mâniei Lui, care ai băut, ai sorbit până în fund potirul amețelii! Așa vorbește Domnul tău, Domnul Dumnezeul tău, care apără pe poporul Lui: ‘Iată că îți iau din mână potirul amețelii, potirul mâniei Mele, ca să nu mai bei din el, și îl voi pune în mâna asupritorilor tăi, care îți ziceau: “Îndoaie-te, ca să trecem peste tine!” Îți făceai atunci spinarea ca un pământ și ca o uliță pentru trecători.’” (vers. 17, 22-23) Remarcăm faptul că Dumnezeu protejează Israelul datorită identității lui: „Așa vorbește Domnul tău, Domnul Dumnezeul tău, care apără pe poporul Lui…” (vers. 22a)

Fiecare dintre noi ne protejăm copiii, și nu pentru că întotdeauna sunt cuminți și ascultători, ci datorită identității lor – sunt copiii noștri, ne aparțin nouă.

Identitatea de fiu atrage interesul și implicarea Tatălui ceresc. Este fundamental să aparținem Domnului prin decizia personală și voluntară. Este insuficient să fim morali, pentru că moralitatea, deși necesară, este imperfectă și inconsecventă.

Te rog, înainte să termini această zi, primește-L pe Mesia în inimă. Primește-L prin credință și cu pocăință – credință față de El și pocăință față de păcatele făcute. Dacă deja L-ai primit, te rog angajează-te astăzi să-L urmezi cu toată puterea pe care ți-o va da prin Duhul Sfânt.

Să ne rugăm acum. Să ne rugăm pentru iertarea păcatelor și apoi pentru sfințirea deplină a vieții.

Tuesday, January 7, 2025 – Isaiah 51:1-23

Chapter 51 brings a message of encouragement to the faithful remnant in the midst of challenges and troubles. The prophet Isaiah urged them to return wholeheartedly to God: “Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness and who seek the Lord: Look to the rock from which you were cut and to the quarry from which you were hewn.” (v. 1)

Living during the reigns of Kings Uzziah, Ahaz, and Zedekiah, Isaiah prophesied for over four difficult decades, during which he wrote one of the most beautiful books of the Bible.

Today's chapter can be divided into two sections:

1.     The Lord comforts the faithful remnant (v. 1-16)
“I, even I, am he who comforts you. Who are you that you fear mere mortals, human beings who are but grass? I have put my words in your mouth and covered you with the shadow of my hand—I who set the heavens in place, who laid the foundations of the earth, and who say to Zion, ‘You are my people.’” (v. 12, 16).
God takes responsibility for protecting His people because of the covenant He made with Abraham, the founder of Israel. God’s loyalty is awe-inspiring, despite the lack of consistency and faithfulness from the Israelites.

2.     The Lord comforts Jerusalem (v. 17-23)
“Awake, awake! Rise up, Jerusalem, you who have drunk from the hand of the Lord the cup of his wrath, you who have drained to its dregs the goblet that makes people stagger. This is what your Sovereign Lord says, your God, who defends his people: ‘See, I have taken out of your hand the cup that made you stagger; from that cup, the goblet of my wrath, you will never drink again. I will put it into the hands of your tormentors, who said to you, “Fall prostrate that we may walk on you.” And you made your back like the ground, like a street to be walked on.’” (v. 17, 22-23).
We note that God protects Israel because of its identity: “This is what your Sovereign Lord says, your God, who defends his people…” (v. 22a).

Each of us protects our children—not because they are always obedient and well-behaved, but because of their identity—they are our children, and they belong to us.

The identity of a child draws the interest and involvement of the Heavenly Father. It is fundamental to belong to the Lord through a personal and voluntary decision. It is not enough to be moral, because morality, although necessary, is imperfect and inconsistent.

Before you end this day, please receive the Messiah into your heart. Receive Him by faith and with repentance—faith in Him and repentance for the sins you’ve committed. If you have already received Him, I urge you today to commit to following Him with all the strength He will give you through the Holy Spirit.

Let us pray now. Let us pray for the forgiveness of sins and then for the complete sanctification of our lives.
