Capitolele 4-8 conțin cinci mesaje profetice. În fiecare dintre ele, Ezechiel este numit „fiul omului” și este trimis să vestească voia lui Dumnezeu. În capitolele 4-6 sunt primele trei mesaje.

Primul mesaj este în capitolul 4 și ilustrează cucerirea Ierusalimului și asediile viitoare asupra Iudeii. Al doilea mesaj este în capitolul 5 și este prezentat prin actul simbolic al tunderii părului profetului (vers. 1-4). Ezechiel își tunde complet barba și părul ca simbol al judecății și pedepsirii lui Israel. Părul tuns îl împarte în trei părți și îl distruge în trei moduri diferite, arătând în mod specific ce fel va fi distrus poporul vinovat. O treime din păr va fi arsă în mijlocul cetății, simbolizând distrugerea prin foamete și ciumă. O altă treime va fi lovită cu sabia, semnificând moartea prin război. O ultimă treime va fi împrăștiată în vânt, indicând exilul și risipirea supraviețuitorilor.

Motivul acestei aspre pedepse este răzvrătirea Ierusalimului (vers. 5-9). Ierusalimul a fost pus de Dumnezeu în centrul națiunilor (v. 5), având responsabilitatea să fie o lumină pentru popoarele din jur. În loc să urmeze poruncile divine, Israel s-a răzvrătit mai mult decât toate celelalte națiuni, dezonorând numele lui Dumnezeu și uzurpând planul Acestuia. Au respins legile și rânduielile lui Dumnezeu și s-au făcut vinovați de idolatrie și imoralitate.

Lecția de viață a acestui capitol arată sfințenia și dreptatea lui Dumnezeu, care nu tolerează păcatul pe termen nelimitat. Când cineva trăiește în păcat și ignoră sistematic avertismentele divine, va avea parte de judecata inevitabilă a lui Dumnezeu. Să ne rugăm lui Dumnezeu pentru o viață sfântă și dedicată împlinirii intereselor Sale!

Wednesday, March 26, 2025, Ezekiel 5:1–17

Chapters 4–8 contain five prophetic messages. In each of them, Ezekiel is called “son of man” and is sent to proclaim God’s will. The first three messages are found in chapters 4–6.

The first message is in chapter 4 and illustrates the conquest of Jerusalem and the future sieges upon Judah. The second message is in chapter 5 and is presented through the symbolic act of the prophet shaving his hair (vv. 1–4). Ezekiel completely shaves his beard and hair as a symbol of judgment and punishment upon Israel. The cut hair is divided into three parts and destroyed in three different ways, specifically showing how the guilty people would be destroyed. One-third of the hair would be burned in the middle of the city, symbolizing destruction through famine and plague. Another third would be struck with the sword, signifying death by war. The final third would be scattered to the wind, indicating exile and the dispersion of the survivors.

The reason for this harsh punishment is Jerusalem’s rebellion (vv. 5–9). Jerusalem had been placed by God in the center of the nations (v. 5), with the responsibility to be a light to the surrounding peoples. Instead of following God’s commands, Israel rebelled more than all the other nations, dishonoring the name of God and usurping His purpose. They rejected God’s laws and ordinances and became guilty of idolatry and immorality.

The life lesson of this chapter reveals God’s holiness and justice, which does not tolerate sin indefinitely. When someone lives in sin and systematically ignores divine warnings, they will inevitably face the judgment of God. Let us pray to God for a holy life, dedicated to fulfilling His purposes!
