Sâmbătă, 22 februarie 2025, Ieremia 31:1-40

Capitolul 31 anticipează restaurarea națională a Israelului (2-22): „Domnul mi Se arată de departe: „Te iubesc cu o iubire veșnică, de aceea îți păstrez bunătatea Mea! Te voi așeza din nou și vei fi așezată din nou, fecioara lui Israel!” (vers. 3).

Profetul a zugrăvit acest mesaj al restaurării prin trei imagini sugestive:

1.     O perioadă de mare bucurie care va lăsa în urmă întristarea și înstrăinarea: „Te voi așeza din nou și vei fi așezată din nou, fecioara lui Israel! Te vei împodobi iarăși cu timpanele tale și vei ieși în mijlocul jocurilor voioase.” (vers. 4)

2.     O perioadă de prosperitate și pace: „Vei sădi iarăși vii pe înălțimile Samariei; cei ce le vor sădi le vor culege și roadele.” (vers. 5)

3.     O perioadă de reînnoire a consacrării pentru Dumnezeu: „Căci vine ziua când străjerii vor striga pe muntele lui Efraim: ‘Sculați-vă să ne suim în Sion, la Domnul Dumnezeul nostru!” (vers. 6)

Profetul a menționat starea și cuvintele de pocăință ale poporului la întoarcerea în țară: „După ce m-am întors, m-am căit și, după ce mi-am recunoscut greșelile, mă bat pe pulpă; sunt rușinat și roșu de rușine, căci port ocara tinereții mele.” (vers. 19)

În ultima parte a capitolului 31, Ieremia explică stabilirea unui nou raport în relația lui Dumnezeu cu Iuda și Israel: „Iată, vin zile”, zice Domnul, „când voi însămânța casa lui Israel și casa lui Iuda cu o sămânță de oameni și o sămânță de dobitoace. Și cum am vegheat asupra lor ca să-i smulg, să-i tai, să-i dărâm, să-i nimicesc și să le fac rău, tot așa voi veghea asupra lor ca să-i zidesc și să-i sădesc”, zice Domnul. „În zilele acelea, nu se va mai zice: ‘Părinții au mâncat aguridă și copiilor li s-au strepezit dinții’, ci fiecare va muri pentru nelegiuirea lui; oricărui om care va mânca aguridă i se vor strepezi dinții!” (vers. 29-30)

În această înnoire, Dumnezeu a stabilit un nou legământ cu poporul Său. În acest nou legământ, Dumnezeu va da poporului capacitatea să trăiască în neprihănire și să nu mai păcătuiască: „Iată, vin zile”, zice Domnul, „când voi face cu casa lui Israel și cu casa lui Iuda un legământ nou. Nu ca legământul pe care l-am încheiat cu părinții lor în ziua când i-am apucat de mână să-i scot din țara Egiptului, legământ pe care l-au călcat, măcar că aveam drepturi de soț asupra lor”, zice Domnul. „Ci iată legământul pe care-l voi face cu casa lui Israel după zilele acelea”, zice Domnul: „Voi pune Legea Mea înăuntrul lor, o voi scrie în inima lor și Eu voi fi Dumnezeul lor, iar ei vor fi poporul Meu. Niciunul nu va mai învăța pe aproapele sau pe fratele său, zicând: ‘Cunoaște pe Domnul!’ Ci toți Mă vor cunoaște, de la cel mai mic până la cel mai mare”, zice Domnul, „căci le voi ierta nelegiuirea și nu-Mi voi mai aduce aminte de păcatul lor.” (vers. 31-34)

Oamenii și orașul vor fi închinați Domnului, puși deoparte pentru Dumnezeu. Aceasta este dorința supremă a lui Dumnezeu: un popor sfânt și fidel. Să ne rugăm pentru maturitate, loialitate și așezare sub stăpânirea Dumnezeului Cel Preaînalt.

Saturday, February 22, 2025, Jeremiah 31:1-40

Chapter 31 anticipates the national restoration of Israel (verses 2-22): “The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: ‘I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness. I will build you up again, and you, Virgin Israel, will be rebuilt.’” (verse 3).

The prophet illustrated this message of restoration through three vivid images:

1.     A time of great joy that will leave behind sorrow and estrangement: “I will build you up again, and you, Virgin Israel, will be rebuilt. Again you will take up your timbrels and go out to dance with the joyful.” (verse 4)

2.     A time of prosperity and peace: “Again you will plant vineyards on the hills of Samaria; the farmers will plant them and enjoy their fruit.” (verse 5)

3.     A time of renewed dedication to God: “There will be a day when watchmen cry out on the hills of Ephraim, ‘Come, let us go up to Zion, to the Lord our God.’” (verse 6)

The prophet mentioned the people's state of repentance and their words upon returning to the land: “After I strayed, I repented; after I came to understand, I beat my breast. I was ashamed and humiliated because I bore the disgrace of my youth.” (verse 19)

In the latter part of chapter 31, Jeremiah explains the establishment of a new relationship between God and Judah and Israel: “The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will plant the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the offspring of people and of animals. Just as I watched over them to uproot and tear down, and to overthrow, destroy and bring disaster, so I will watch over them to build and to plant,” declares the Lord. “In those days people will no longer say, ‘The parents have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge.’ Instead, everyone will die for their own sin; whoever eats sour grapes—their own teeth will be set on edge.” (verses 29-30)

In this renewal, God established a new covenant with His people. Under this new covenant, God would give His people the ability to live in righteousness and no longer fall into sin: “The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah. It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband to them,” declares the Lord. “This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time,” declares the Lord. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest,” declares the Lord. “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” (verses 31-34)

The people and the city would be dedicated to the Lord, set apart for God. This is God’s ultimate desire: a holy and faithful people. Let us pray for maturity, loyalty, and a steadfast commitment under the rule of the Most High God.
