Temele psalmilor scriși de Asaf sunt profeția și Casa Domnului. De asemenea, psalmul vorbește explicit despre istoria ideilor pierdute. Psalmul vorbește cu detalii despre bogăția și măreția harului divin manifestate către un popor greșitor și păcătos (vers. 7-12).

Psalm 81 este împărțit în două părți din punct de vedere al conținutului:

1.     Versetele 1-5 conțin vorbirea omului.

2.     Versetele 6-16 conțin vorbirea lui Dumnezeu.

Psalmul de față prezintă trei lucruri distincte:

1.     Festivitățile sacre ale evreilor (vers. 1-5)

2.     Activitățile suverane ale lui Dumnezeu (vers. 6-7)

3.     Frica sfântă a omului credincios (vers. 8-16)

Psalmistul tratează câteva subiecte importante:

1.     Importanța laudei aduse lui Dumnezeu: “Cântaţi cu veselie lui Dumnezeu, care este tăria noastră! Înălţaţi strigăte de bucurie Dumnezeului lui Iacov! Cântaţi o cântare, sunaţi din tobă, din harpa cea plăcută şi din alăută!”

2.     Importanța sărbătorilor sfinte (vers. 1-2): “Sunaţi din trâmbiţă la luna nouă, la luna plină, în ziua sărbătorii noastre! Căci aceasta este o lege pentru Israel, o poruncă a Dumnezeului lui Iacov. El a rânduit sărbătoarea aceasta pentru Iosif, când a mers împotriva ţării Egiptului…” (vers. 3-5a).

3.     Importanța legământului cu Dumnezeu: “O! de M-ar asculta poporul Meu, de ar umbla Israel în căile Mele! Într-o clipă aş înfrunta pe vrăjmaşii lor, Mi-aş întoarce mâna împotriva potrivnicilor lor; cei ce urăsc pe Domnul L-ar linguşi, şi fericirea lui Israel ar dăinui în veci. L-aş hrăni cu cel mai bun grâu şi l-aş sătura cu miere din stâncă.” (vers. 13-16).

În ciuda slăbiciunilor, alunecărilor și păcatelor evreilor, Dumnezeu continuă să stea în mijlocul lor și să-i numească poporul Meu „Ascultă, poporul Meu, și te voi sfătui, Israele, de M-ai asculta !” (vers. 8).

Mila divină prin care Creatorul nu ne dă pedeapsa pe care o merităm și harul sfânt prin care El ne dă mântuirea pe care nu o merităm sunt evocate în acest psalm.

Trăim prin har, suntem mântuiți prin har, vom moșteni Împărăția lui Dumnezeu prin har. Acesta este mesajul psalmului 81, un mesaj de iertare, împăcare și binecuvântare.

Să ne rugăm astăzi pentru o viață sfântă, consacrată lui Dumnezeu, pentru rod bogat și pentru proslăvirea Dumnezeului Preaînalt!

The themes of the psalms written by Asaph are prophecy and the House of the Lord. Additionally, this psalm explicitly speaks about the history of lost ideas. The psalm details the richness and greatness of divine grace manifested toward a sinful and errant people (verses 7-12).

Psalm 81 is divided into two parts in terms of content:

1. Verses 1-5 contain the words of man.
2. Verses 6-16 contain the words of God.

This psalm presents three distinct things:

1. The sacred festivals of the Jews (verses 1-5)
2. God’s sovereign activities (verses 6-7)
3. The holy fear of the faithful man (verses 8-16)

The psalmist addresses several important subjects:

1. The Importance of Praising God: “Sing for joy to God our strength; shout aloud to the God of Jacob! Begin the music, strike the timbrel, play the melodious harp and lyre!“

2. The Importance of Holy Festivals (verses 1-2): “Sound the ram’s horn at the New Moon, and when the moon is full, on the day of our festival; this is a decree for Israel, an ordinance of the God of Jacob. When God went out against Egypt, he established it as a statute for Joseph…” (verses 3-5a)

3. The Importance of the Covenant with God: “If my people would only listen to me, if Israel would only follow my ways, how quickly I would subdue their enemies and turn my hand against their foes! Those who hate the Lord would cringe before him, and their punishment would last forever. But you would be fed with the finest of wheat; with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.” (verses 13-16)

Despite the weaknesses, slips, and sins of the Jews, God continues to dwell among them and call them “My people.” “Hear me, my people, and I will warn you—if you would only listen to me, Israel!” (verse 8)

The divine mercy through which the Creator does not give us the punishment we deserve and the holy grace through which He gives us the salvation we do not deserve are evoked in this psalm.

We live by grace, are saved by grace, and will inherit the Kingdom of God by grace. This is the message of Psalm 81, a message of forgiveness, reconciliation, and blessing.

Let us pray today for a holy life, consecrated to God, for abundant fruit, and for the glorification of the Most High God!
