Ieremia a afirmat despre regii, conducătorii și păstorii răi că risipesc turma lui Dumnezeu: „Vai de păstorii care nimicesc și risipesc turma pășunii Mele”, zice Domnul. De aceea, așa vorbește Domnul Dumnezeul lui Israel împotriva păstorilor care pasc pe poporul Meu: „Pentru că Mi-ați risipit oile, le-ați izgonit și nu v-ați îngrijit de ele, iată că vă voi pedepsi din pricina răutății faptelor voastre”, zice Domnul.” (vers. 1-2)

Prin profetul Ieremia, Dumnezeu a promis că va ridica lui David un alt Rege, care va fi o Odraslă neprihănită: „Iată vin zile”, zice Domnul, „când voi ridica lui David o Odraslă neprihănită. El va împărăți, va lucra cu înțelepciune și va face dreptate și judecată în țară. În vremea Lui, Iuda va fi mântuit și Israel va avea liniște în locuința lui; și iată Numele† pe care i-L vor da: ‘Domnul, Neprihănirea noastră’!” (vers. 5-6)

De asemenea, Dumnezeu a vorbit împotriva prorocilor falși (vers. 9-15)

1.     A expus caracterul lor murdar: „Asupra prorocilor. Inima îmi este zdrobită în mine, toate oasele îmi tremură; sunt ca un om beat, ca un om amețit de vin, din pricina Domnului și din pricina sfintelor Lui cuvinte. Căci țara este plină de preacurvii și țara se jelește din pricina jurămintelor; câmpiile pustiei sunt uscate. Toată alergătura lor țintește numai la rău și toată vitejia lor este pentru nelegiuire!” (vers. 9-11)

2.     A expus profețiile lor neadevărate (vers. 16-22): „Așa vorbește Domnul oștirilor: „N-ascultați cuvintele prorocilor care vă prorocesc! Ei vă leagănă în închipuiri zadarnice; spun vedenii ieșite din inima lor, nu ce vine din gura Domnului. Ei spun celor ce Mă nesocotesc: ‘Domnul a zis: «Veți avea pace!»’ și zic tuturor celor ce trăiesc după aplecările inimii lor: ‘Nu vi se va întâmpla niciun rău.’” (vers. 16-17)

3.     Diferența păcatelor dintre prorocii din Samaria și cei din Ierusalim: „În prorocii Samariei am văzut următoarea nebunie: au prorocit pe Baal și au rătăcit pe poporul Meu Israel! Dar în prorocii Ierusalimului am văzut lucruri grozave. Sunt preacurvari, trăiesc în minciună, întăresc† mâinile celor răi, așa că niciunul nu se mai întoarce de la răutatea lui; toți sunt înaintea Mea ca Sodoma și locuitorii Ierusalimului, ca Gomora.” De aceea, așa vorbește Domnul oștirilor despre proroci: „Iată, îi voi hrăni cu pelin și le voi da să bea ape otrăvite; căci prin prorocii Ierusalimului s-a răspândit nelegiuirea în toată țara.” (vers. 13-15)

Lecția de viață a acestui capitol este că prin conducători spirituali poporul este condus spre Dumnezeu, iar prin conducători păcătoși și ipocriți sunt conduși spre pierzare. Să ne rugăm Domnului pentru regi, conducători și păstori după voia lui Dumnezeu, pentru ca influența lor să dea o direcție sfântă poporului.

Friday, February 14, 2025 – Jeremiah 23:1-40

Jeremiah spoke against the evil kings, leaders, and shepherds who scattered God's flock: “Woe to the shepherds who are destroying and scattering the sheep of my pasture!” declares the Lord. Therefore, this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says to the shepherds who tend my people: “Because you have scattered my flock and driven them away and have not bestowed care on them, I will bestow punishment on you for the evil you have done,” declares the Lord.” (vv. 1-2)

Through the prophet Jeremiah, God promised that He would raise up for David another King, a Righteous Branch: “The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land. In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: ‘The Lord Our Righteous Savior.’” (vv. 5-6)

God also spoke against the false prophets (vv. 9-15).

1.     He exposed their corrupt character: “Concerning the prophets: My heart is broken within me; all my bones tremble. I am like a drunken man, like a strong man overcome by wine, because of the Lord and his holy words. The land is full of adulterers; because of the curse the land lies parched and the pastures in the wilderness are withered. The prophets follow an evil course and use their power unjustly.” (vv. 9-11)

2.     He exposed their false prophecies (vv. 16-22): “This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘Do not listen to what the prophets are prophesying to you; they fill you with false hopes. They speak visions from their own minds, not from the mouth of the Lord. They keep saying to those who despise me, “The Lord says: You will have peace.” And to all who follow the stubbornness of their hearts they say, “No harm will come to you.”’” (vv. 16-17)

3.     He highlighted the difference between the sins of the prophets of Samaria and those of Jerusalem: “Among the prophets of Samaria I saw this repulsive thing: They prophesied by Baal and led my people Israel astray. And among the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen something horrible: They commit adultery and live a lie. They strengthen the hands of evildoers so that not one of them turns from their wickedness. They are all like Sodom to me; the people of Jerusalem are like Gomorrah.” Therefore this is what the Lord Almighty says concerning the prophets: “I will make them eat bitter food and drink poisoned water, because from the prophets of Jerusalem ungodliness has spread throughout the land.” (vv. 13-15)

The life lesson from this chapter is that through godly spiritual leaders, people are led toward God, while through sinful and hypocritical leaders, they are led toward destruction. Let us pray to the Lord for kings, leaders, and shepherds who follow God's will so that their influence may guide the people in a holy direction.
