Psalmul 46 este imnul credinței puternice, o credință care nu se clatină nici în cele mai grele încercări. Este supranumit și „psalmul lui Luther”, deoarece marele reformator obișnuia să-l recite ori de câte ori trecea prin necazuri.

Psalmul 46 este prima din cele șase Cântări ale Sionului (46, 48, 76, 84, 87 și 122), imnuri care celebrează Sionul, muntele cel sfânt și locuința Celui Preaînalt.

Acest psalm are trei părți:

1. Dumnezeu este protecția poporului Său:

a)     Un adăpost pentru fiecare: ,,(Dumnezeu) este… sprijinul nostru” (vers. 1b).

b)    Un adăpost de la Dumnezeu: ,,Dumnezeu este adăpostul…” (vers. 1a).

c)     Un adăpost pentru fiecare zi: ,,…un ajutor care nu lipseşte niciodată în nevoi” (vers. 1c).

Fiii lui Core au proclamat prezența lui Dumnezeu care Își protejează poporul în cele mai grele încercări.

2. Dumnezeu este prezent în Sion (vers. 4-7).

a)     Sionul este o cetate sfântă (vers. 4b).

b)    Sionul este cetatea cu izvoare (vers. 4a).

c)     Sionul este cetatea lui Dumnezeu (vers. 5).

3. Dumnezeu este Împăratul păcii (vers. 8-11):

a)     A pus capăt războaielor: ,,El a pus capăt războaielor” (vers. 9).

b)    Oferă adăpost oamenilor: ,,Dumnezeu este un turn de scăpare pentru noi” (vers. 11).

În generația noastră există multă protecție, însă niciodată oamenii nu au fost mai expuși ca în prezent. Copiii sunt uciși chiar în pântecele mamelor lor. Deși astăzi există mai mult armament decât a existat în toată istoria la un loc, omenirea este mai aproape de un război nuclear decât a fost vreodată. Pământul este cuprins de concurență, adversitate și războaie. Singurul loc unde există pace pentru oricine este la Dumnezeu.

Fiind timpul rugăciunii, ne vom ruga pentru prezența lui Dumnezeu în viața noastră și pentru prezența noastră alături de El. Dumnezeu este protecția și pacea noastră!

Psalm 46 is the hymn of strong faith, a faith that does not waver even in the hardest trials. It is also called “Luther's psalm” because the great reformer used to recite it whenever he went through troubles.

Psalm 46 is the first of the six Songs of Zion (46, 48, 76, 84, 87, and 122), hymns that celebrate Zion, the holy mountain and dwelling place of the Most High.

This psalm has three parts:

1. God is the protection of His people:

a)     A refuge for everyone: “(God) is… our refuge” (v. 1b).

b)    A refuge granted by God: “God is our refuge…” (v. 1a).

c)     A refuge for every day: “…an ever-present help in trouble” (v. 1c).

The sons of Korah proclaimed God's presence, protecting His people in the hardest trials.

2. God is present in Zion (v. 4-7).

a)     Zion is a holy city (v. 4b).

b)    Zion is the city with streams (v. 4a).

c)     Zion is the city of God (v. 5).

3. God is the King of peace (v. 8-11):

a)     He ends wars: “He makes wars cease” (v. 9).

b)    He provides shelter to people: “The God of Jacob is our fortress” (v. 11).

In our generation, there is much protection, but people have never been more exposed than they are now. Children are killed even in their mothers' wombs. Although there is more weaponry today than in all of history combined, humanity is closer to a nuclear war than ever before. The earth is filled with competition, adversity, and wars. The only place where there is peace for everyone is with God.

As it is time for prayer, we will pray for God's presence in our lives and for our presence alongside Him. God is our protection and our peace!
