Marți, 11 martie 2025, Ieremia 47:1-7

Capitolul 47 este al doilea cel mai scurt capitol din cartea Ieremia și redă profeția adresată filistenilor. Filistia era așezată pe coasta vestică a Mării Mediterane și a fost un dușman permanent al evreilor, asemenea unui țepuș în coastă. David a fost primul rege care i-a învins și i-a supus.

Aproximativ 800 de ani mai târziu, filistenii au fost cuceriți de macabei și integrați în poporul evreu. Scriptura menționează că Ieremia a spus această profeție înainte ca egiptenii să învingă Gaza: „Iată Cuvântul Domnului spus prorocului Ieremia cu privire la filisteni, înainte ca Faraon să bată Gaza.” (vers. 1)

Armata babiloniană care a cucerit Egiptul este simbolizată în profeția lui Ieremia de o apă care crește, devine un râu și îneacă țara: „Așa vorbește Domnul: ‘Iată, se ridică niște ape de la miazănoapte, cresc ca un râu ieșit din matcă, îneacă țara și ce cuprinde ea, cetatea și locuitorii ei…” (vers. 2a)

Apoi egiptenii sunt îngroziți de tropăitul mulțimii cailor și de huruitul carelor de război, care înfricoșează oamenii din cetate: „Țipă oamenii și se bocesc toți locuitorii țării de tropăitul copitelor cailor lui puternici, de huruitul carelor lui și de scârțâitul roților; părinții nu se mai întorc spre copiii lor, atât le sunt de slăbite mâinile...” (vers. 2b-3)

Filistenii au fost învinși și supuși pentru că venise vremea să fie pedepsiți pentru răutatea și dușmănia manifestată de-a lungul deceniilor față de poporul lui Dumnezeu: „Vine ziua când vor fi nimiciți toți filistenii și stârpiți toți cei ce slujeau ca ajutoare Tirului și Sidonului. Căci Domnul va nimici pe filisteni, rămășițele ostrovului Caftor.” (vers. 4)

Biblia este singura Carte care conține profeții și, peste sute de ani, se menționează împlinirea lor. Această realitate se constituie într-una dintre cele mai puternice dovezi ale existenței lui Dumnezeu și ale autenticității Scripturilor.

Să ne rugăm pentru oamenii neconvertiți care trăiesc în răzvrătire și răutate. Biserica este lăsată pe pământ să proclame vestea cea bună a chemării oamenilor la Dumnezeu. Credincioșia noastră față de Dumnezeu se manifestă prin intensitatea misionării și evanghelizării oamenilor neconvertiți. Aceasta a făcut Mântuitorul și apostolii și aceasta va continua Biserica să facă până la sfârșit. Doamne, ajută!

Tuesday, March 11, 2025 – Jeremiah 47:1-7

Chapter 47 is the second shortest chapter in the book of Jeremiah and presents the prophecy addressed to the Philistines. Philistia was located on the western coast of the Mediterranean Sea and was a constant enemy of the Israelites, like a thorn in their side. David was the first king to defeat and subdue them.

Approximately 800 years later, the Philistines were conquered by the Maccabees and integrated with the Jewish people. Scripture mentions that Jeremiah spoke this prophecy before the Egyptians defeated Gaza: “This is the word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the Philistines before Pharaoh attacked Gaza.” (v. 1)

The Babylonian army that conquered Egypt is symbolized in Jeremiah’s prophecy as rising waters that become a river and flood the land: “This is what the Lord says: ‘See how the waters are rising in the north; they will become an overflowing torrent. They will overflow the land and everything in it, the towns and those who live in them…’” (v. 2a)

Then, the Egyptians are terrified by the trampling of many horses and the rumbling of war chariots, which frighten the people in the city: “The people will cry out; all who dwell in the land will wail at the sound of the hooves of galloping steeds, at the noise of enemy chariots and the rumble of their wheels. Parents will not turn to help their children; their hands will hang limp.” (vv. 2b-3)

The Philistines were defeated and subdued because the time had come for them to be punished for their wickedness and hostility toward God’s people over the decades: “The day has come to destroy all the Philistines and to remove all who are left to help Tyre and Sidon. The Lord is about to destroy the Philistines, the remnant from the coasts of Caphtor.” (v. 4)

The Bible is the only Book that contains prophecies and, over hundreds of years, records their fulfillment. This reality stands as one of the strongest proofs of God's existence and the authenticity of the Scriptures.

Let us pray for unconverted people who live in rebellion and wickedness. The Church is placed on earth to proclaim the good news of God's call to people. Our faithfulness to God is demonstrated by the intensity of our mission and evangelism efforts for the unconverted. This is what the Savior and the apostles did, and this is what the Church will continue to do until the end. Lord, help us!
