Marți, 7 noiembrie 2023, 1 Regi 17:1-24 – Profetul Ilie

Dumnezeu l-a disciplinat pe împăratul Ahab prin profetul Ilie. Ilie este unul dintre profeții cei mai cunoscuți din Biblie. Este singurul proroc venerat în cele trei mari religii ale lumii: iudaismul, creștinismul, islamismul.

Ilie a mers la Ahab și a proclamat domnia lui Dumnezeu, anunțând pedeapsa divină prin secetă. Seceta lovea în esența religiei lui Baal, deoarece ei credeau că Baal este zeul ploii. Când Dumnezeu a anunțat secetă, a promovat superioritatea lui Dumnezeu în raport cu Baal. Dumnezeu i-a poruncit lui Ilie să părăsească Samaria, să se întoarcă spre răsărit și să se ascundă lângă pârâul Cherit. Corbii îi aduceau pâine și carne dimineața și seara și bea apă din pârâu.

Din cauza secetei care a durat trei ani și jumătate, pârâul Cherit a secat. Dumnezeu i-a poruncit lui Ilie să meargă la o văduvă într-o cetate dintre Tir și Sidon, o distanță de 145 de km. Prima ,,soluție” au fost corbii și cea de-a doua a fost o ,,văduvă”! Deși era neevreică, ea credea în Dumnezeul cel viu! Ilie i-a cerut să facă o turtă mai întâi pentru el și apoi pentru ea și fiul ei. El a asigurat-o în numele lui Dumnezeu că va avea hrană în toată perioada secetei. Ascultarea ei demonstrează încrederea ei în Dumnezeu.

În ciuda situației dificile în care se aflau, în ciuda bunăvoinței femeii văduve, Dumnezeu a îngăduit ca fiul ei să moară subit. Femeia și-a asumat că Dumnezeu i-a omorât copilul din cauza nelegiuirii ei. Ilie s-a întins peste trupul copilului mort și s-a rugat de trei ori pentru vindecarea lui. Dumnezeu a ascultat rugăciunea, a făcut o minune și copilul a înviat. Este pentru prima oară când se vorbește despre o înviere din morți. Această experiență i-a dovedit mamei disperate că Ilie este într-adevăr un om al lui Dumnezeu.

A sosit timpul rugăciunii și vom mulțumi Atotputernicului Dumnezeu pentru că ne ascultă rugăciunile și ne ascultă prin minuni. Îl vom ruga să continue să ne asculte rugăciunile și să facă minuni pentru proslăvirea numelui Său.

Tuesday, November 7, 2023: 1 Kings 17:1-24 – The Prophet Elijah

God disciplined King Ahab through the prophet Elijah. Elijah is one of the most well-known prophets in the Bible. He is the only prophet venerated in the three major religions of the world: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.

Elijah went to Ahab and proclaimed the reign of God, announcing divine punishment through a drought. The drought struck at the heart of the Baal religion because they believed Baal was the god of rain. When God announced the drought, it promoted the superiority of God over Baal. God commanded Elijah to leave Samaria, to turn eastward, and to hide by the Cherith brook. Ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and evening, and he drank water from the brook.

Because of the drought that lasted three and a half years, the Cherith brook dried up. God commanded Elijah to go to a widow in a city between Tyre and Sidon, a distance of 145 km. The first “solution” were the ravens and the second was a “widow”! Although she was not Jewish, she believed in the living God! Elijah asked her to make a cake for him first and then for herself and her son. He assured her in the name of God that she would have food throughout the time of the drought. Her obedience demonstrates her trust in God.

Despite the difficult situation they were in, despite the goodwill of the widow, God allowed her son to die suddenly. The woman assumed that God had killed her child because of her iniquity. Elijah stretched himself over the dead child’s body and prayed three times for his healing. God listened to the prayer, performed a miracle, and the child was resurrected. This is the first time a resurrection from the dead is mentioned. This experience proved to the desperate mother that Elijah was indeed a man of God.

It is time for prayer and we will thank the Almighty God for listening to our prayers and answering us through miracles. We will ask Him to continue to listen to our prayers and to perform miracles for the glorification of His name.
