Duminică, 09 mai 2024, Psalm 43:1-5

Deşi nu se ştie cine este scriitorului psalmului 43, unii teologi îl propun pe regele Ezechia, iar alții pe fiii lui Core. Deşi psalmii 42 şi 43 formează un singur psalm în multe manuscrise ebraice, psalmul 43 este o cântare de laudă independentă.

Psalmul de față are două părți:

1. Psalmistul cere ajutorul lui Dumnezeu (vers. 1-3). El se simte nedreptățit de un popor nemilos, probabil Asiria. Este înconjurat de oameni vicleni şi răi: ,,Fă-mi dreptate, Dumnezeule, apără-mi pricina împotriva unui neam nemilos! Izbăveşte-mă de oamenii plini de vicleşug şi de fărădelege!” (vers. 1)

2. Psalmistul Îl laudă pe Domnul (vers. 4-5). El se roagă Domnului să-l ajute să ajungă din nou la altarul de la Ierusalim. Acolo își va găsi liniștea şi va primi mângâiere. Are o mare dorință să-I cânte Domnului și să se închine. ,,Atunci voi merge la altarul lui Dumnezeu, la altarul lui Dumnezeu, care este bucuria şi veselia mea, şi Te voi lăuda cu harpa, Dumnezeule, Dumnezeul meu!” (vers. 4)

Psalmistul vorbește cu sine și se autoîncurajează cu numele Domnului și cu perspectiva închinării oferite lui Dumnezeu: ,,Pentru ce te mâhneşti, suflete, şi gemi înăuntrul meu? Nădăjduieşte în Dumnezeu, căci iarăşi Îl voi lăuda: El este mântuirea mea şi Dumnezeul meu” (vers. 5).

Lecția de viață din acest psalm este că în necaz şi persecuție psalmistul se grăbește să se închine în casa lui Dumnezeu, găsindu-şi în felul acesta echilibrul și pacea sufletească.

Ne vom ruga Domnului să ne găsim şi noi refugiul în închinarea din casa Domnului, locul unde Îl vom lăuda pe Dumnezeu care Se luptă pentru noi.

Sunday, May 9, 2024 – Psalm 43:1-5

Although it is not known who the writer of Psalm 43 is, some theologians propose King Hezekiah, while others suggest the sons of Korah. Although Psalms 42 and 43 form a single psalm in many Hebrew manuscripts, Psalm 43 is an independent song of praise.

This psalm has two parts:

1.     The psalmist asks for God's help (verses 1-3). He feels wronged by a ruthless people, likely Assyria. He is surrounded by deceitful and wicked men. “Vindicate me, my God, and plead my cause against an unfaithful nation. Rescue me from those who are deceitful and wicked.” (verse 1)

2.     The psalmist praises the Lord (verses 4-5). He prays to the Lord to help him return to the altar in Jerusalem. There he will find peace and receive comfort. He has a great desire to sing to the Lord and to worship. “Then I will go to the altar of God, to God, my joy and my delight. I will praise you with the lyre, O God, my God!” (verse 4)

The psalmist speaks to himself and encourages himself with the name of the Lord and with the prospect of worship offered to God: “Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.” (verse 5)

The life lesson from this psalm is that in trouble and persecution, the psalmist hastens to worship in the house of God, thus finding his balance and inner peace.

We will pray to the Lord to also find our refuge in the worship in the house of the Lord, the place where we will praise the God who fights for us.
