Vineri, 9 iunie 2023, Deuteronom 4:44-5:33 – Cel de-al doilea mesaj al lui Moise – Obligațiile legământului

Moise a retransmis Legea copiilor lui Israel. Legea este instrucțiunea lui Dumnezeu pentru oameni, referitoare la umblarea cu El. Legea nu a avut niciodată scopul să mântuiască oamenii, ci doar să le arate păcatul care era prezent în viața lor. Deuteronomul nu este un legământ nou, ci repetarea vechiului legământ.

În versetele 6-21 sunt repetate cele Zece Porunci pe care Dumnezeu le-a scris cu degetul Său pe cele două bucăți de piatră date lui Moise pe munte.

1)    Prima poruncă interzicea lui Israel să mai aibă alți dumnezei în afară de Domnul.

2)    A doua poruncă interzicea facerea unui chip cioplit care să-L reprezinte pe Dumnezeu.

3)    A nu lua în deșert numele lui Dumnezeu este porunca a treia. Aceasta presupune să nu folosim numele lui Dumnezeu în expresii profane. De asemenea, era interzisă folosirea numelui lui Dumnezeu în mod manipulator, în practici oculte sau în blestemarea cuiva.

4)    Respectarea zilei a șaptea este porunca a patra și se referea la cinstirea acestei zile pentru a-și aminti de Domnul. Porunca a patra este singura dintre cele zece care nu este repetată în Noul Testament.

5)    A cincea poruncă se referă la cinstirea părinților și promite că Dumnezeu va recompensa copiii cu viață lungă și fericire.

6)    Uciderea era interzisă pentru că înseamnă luarea unui vieți în mod ilegal. Această poruncă nu a interzis pedeapsa capitală sau angajarea în război.

7)    Fidelitatea în căsătorie urma să reflecte fidelitatea dintre om și Dumnezeu.

8)    Furtul era interzis de Dumnezeu. Cei mai mulți comentatori biblici sunt de părere că porunca a opta interzice răpirea.

9)    Să nu depui o mărturie mincinoasă.

10) Porunca să nu poftești nu se referă la un păcat specific, ci se referă la un păcat emoțional, psihologic.

Fiind dimineață, ne vom ruga lui Dumnezeu și vom începe cu rugăciunea de mulțumire. Îi vom mulțumi lui Dumnezeu pentru că este drept și iubitor, pentru că s-a gândit la toate lucrurile ca să fie respectat și temut. Apoi vom cere puterea de a împlini poruncile ca pe o dovadă că Îl iubim și Îl respectăm pe Dumnezeu. Dragostea de Dumnezeu se manifestă prin împlinirea poruncilor Sale.

Friday, June 9, 2023: Deuteronomy 4:44-5:33 – Moses' Second Message – The Obligations of the Covenant

Moses relays the Law to the children of Israel again. The Law is God's instruction to people concerning their walk with Him. The Law never intended to save people, but to show them the sin that was present in their lives. Deuteronomy is not a new covenant, but a repetition of the old covenant.

In chapter 5, verses 6-21 repeat the Ten Commandments that God wrote with His finger on the two stone tablets given to Moses on the mountain.

1)    The first commandment forbade Israel from having gods other than the Lord.

2)    The second commandment forbade making a carved image to represent God.

3)    The third commandment is to not take God's name in vain. This means not to use God's name in profane expressions. Also, using God's name in a manipulative way, in occult practices, or cursing someone was forbidden.

4)    Honoring the seventh day is the fourth commandment and refers to honoring this day to remember the Lord. The fourth commandment is the only one of the ten that is not repeated in the New Testament.

5)    The fifth commandment refers to honoring parents and promises that God will reward children with long and happy life.

6)    Murder was forbidden because it meant taking a life illegally. This commandment did not forbid capital punishment or engaging in war.

7)    Fidelity in marriage was to reflect the faithfulness between man and God.

8)    Stealing was forbidden by God. Most Bible commentators believe that the eighth commandment also forbids kidnapping.

9)    Do not bear false witness.

10) The commandment not to covet does not refer to a specific sin, but refers to an emotional, psychological sin.

Since it is again morning, we will pray to God and start with the prayer of thanks. We will thank God for being fair and loving, for considering all things, and so He is to be respected and feared. Then we will ask for the power to fulfill the commandments as proof that we love and respect God. Our love for God is manifested by fulfilling His commandments.
