Sâmbătă, 9 decembrie 2023, 1 Cronici 2:1-55 – Genealogia lui Iuda

Scrierea cărților 1 și 2 Cronici este atribuită cărturarului Ezra, perioada cea mai probabilă a scrierii lor fiind cuprinsă între anii 450-425 î. Cr. Cărțile 1 și 2 Cronici cuprind în mare parte aceleași informații ca 1 și 2 Samuel și 1 si 2 Regi.

Cărțile 1 și 2 Cronici se concentrează mai mult pe aspectul preoțesc al acelei vremi. Cartea 1 Cronici a fost scrisă după exil, pentru a-i ajuta pe cei care se întorceau în Israel să înțeleagă maniera corectă în care trebuiau să se închine lui Dumnezeu. Istoria din cărțile 1 și 2 Cronici se concentrează mai mult asupra Regatului de Sud, care cuprindea semințiile lui Iuda, Beniamin și Levi. Aceste seminții au avut tendința vizibilă să fie mai credincioase lui Dumnezeu.

Primele nouă capitole din 1 Cronici sunt dedicate listelor și genealogiilor. De altfel, liste și genealogii adiționale sunt presărate în toată cartea 1 Cronici. Genealogiile de felul celor din 1 Cronici ne pot părea fără sens, dar ele ne reamintesc că Dumnezeu îl cunoaște pe fiecare dintre copiii Lui în mod personal.

1.     Genealogia lui Iuda (v. 1-4)

2.     Genealogia lui Peret și Zerah (v. 5-8)

3.     Genealogia lui Hetron (v. 9-41)

4.     Genealogia lui Caleb (v. 42-55)

Putem găsi odihnă și liniște sufletească în faptul că cine suntem și ce facem este scris pentru totdeauna în inima lui Dumnezeu. Dacă Îi aparținem lui Cristos, numele noastre sunt scrise pentru totdeauna în cartea vieții Mielului (Apocalipsa 13:8).

Dumnezeu este credincios față de poporul Său și Își ține în mod desăvârșit promisiunile. Privind în cartea 1 Cronici la împlinirea promisiunii lui Dumnezeu față de David, primim reasigurarea că promisiunile Lui față de noi se vor împlini în același fel.

Știm din Cuvânt că ascultarea aduce binecuvântare și neascultarea aduce judecată și pedeapsă. Cartea 1 Cronici, la fel ca Samuel și Regi, este o cronică a modelului de păcat, pocăință, iertare și restaurare a națiunii evreiești. În același fel, Dumnezeu e răbdător cu noi și ne iartă păcatul, atunci când îl mărturisim și îl părăsim (1 Ioan 1:9). Trecând cu privirea peste aceste generații de oameni, suntem mulțumitori, înțelegând voia și caracterul lui Dumnezeu, dar și valoarea justificării prin jertfa lui Cristos care ne aduce mântuire, siguranță și bucurie. Ne vom ruga Domnului împreună pentru o credință puternică, pentru o naștere din nou autentică și pentru o sfințire deplină.

Saturday, December 9, 2023: 1 Chronicles 2:1-55 – The Genealogy of Judah

The writing of the books of 1 & 2 Chronicles is attributed to the scholar Ezra, and the most probable period of their writing is being between the years 450-425 B.C. The books of 1 & 2 Chronicles largely contain the same information as 1 & 2 Samuel and 1 & 2 Kings.

The books of 1 & 2 Chronicles focus more on the priestly aspect of that time. 1 Chronicles was written after the exile, to help those returning to Israel understand the correct way to worship God. The history in the books of 1 and 2 Chronicles concentrates more on the Southern Kingdom, which included the tribes of Judah, Benjamin, and Levi. These tribes had a visible tendency to be more faithful to God.

The first nine chapters of 1 Chronicles are dedicated to lists and genealogies. Moreover, additional lists and genealogies are sprinkled throughout the book of 1 Chronicles. Genealogies like those found in 1 Chronicles may seem senseless to us, but they remind us that God knows each of His children personally.

1.     The Genealogy of Judah (v. 1-4)

2.     The Genealogy of Perez and Zerah (v. 5-8)

3.     The Genealogy of Hezron (v. 9-41)

4.     The Genealogy of Caleb (v. 42-55)

We can find rest and peace in our souls in the fact that who we are and what we do is written forever in the heart of God. If we belong to Christ, our names are written forever in the Lamb’s book of life (Revelation 13:8).

God is faithful to His people and keeps His promises perfectly. Looking in 1 Chronicles at the fulfillment of God's promise to David, we receive reassurance that His promises to us will be fulfilled in the same way.

We know from the Word that obedience brings blessing and disobedience brings judgment and punishment. The book of 1 Chronicles, like Samuel and Kings, is a chronicle of the pattern of sin, repentance, forgiveness, and restoration of the Jewish nation. In the same way, God is patient with us and forgives our sin when we confess and forsake it (1 John 1:9). Looking back over these generations of people, we are thankful for understanding God's will and character, and also the value of justification through the sacrifice of Christ that brings us salvation, assurance, and joy. We will pray to the Lord together for strong faith, for an authentic new birth, and for full sanctification.
