Vineri, 8 decembrie 2023: 1 Cronici, 1:1-54 – Spițele neamurilor

Cărțile 1 și 2 Cronici acoperă aceeași perioadă de timp descrisă în cărțile 2 Samuel, 1 și 2 Regi. Cărțile 2 Samuel și 1 și 2 Regi prezintă istoria israelienilor din punct de vedere profetic și moral. De asemenea, prezintă casa regală care ocupă locul central în viețile lor. Din punctul lor de vedere, Cărțile Cronicilor se concentrează pe problemele religioase, oferind o perspectivă spirituală și Casa lui Dumnezeu ocupă locul central.

Cărțile Cronicilor nu au fost scrise cu scopul de a rescrie sau completa cărțile 2 Samuel și 1 și 2 Regi. Cărțile 2 Samuel și 1 și 2 Regi încep cu Samuel și Saul, explicând de ce a falimentat monarhia evreiască, iar cărțile 1 și 2 Cronici încep cu Adam și Iacov și asigură rămășița lui Iuda că Dumnezeu încă are un plan pentru ei. Începe cu Adam (1 Cronici 1:1) și se încheie cu decretul emis de Cirus, regele Persiei, în 538 î. Cr. (2 Cronici 36:23).

În cărțile Cronici, accentul este pus pe istoria davidică și politică, dar și pe instituțiile preoțești și levitice (1 Cronici 1-9). Domnia lui Saul este prezentată într-un singur capitol (1 Cronici 10). De cealaltă parte, domnia lui David este subiectul central al următoarelor 19 capitole, respectiv capitolele 11-29.

Domnia lui Solomon este prezentată în primele 9 capitole ale cărții 2 Cronici. În următoarele capitole este prezentată istoria dinastiei. Capitolul unu din 2 Cronici prezintă câteva genealogii:

1.     Genealogia lui Adam (v. 1-4)

2.     Genealogia lui Iafet (v. 5-7)

3.     Genealogia lui Ham (v. 8-16)

4.     Genealogia lui Sem (v. 17-27)

5.     Perioada lui Avraam (v. 28-34)

6.     Perioada lui Esau (v. 35-54)

Capitolul 1 începe cu Adam și se încheie cu regii Edomului. Una dintre trăsăturile acestui prim capitol este temporalitatea vieții. Ne vom ruga lui Dumnezeu să ne dea ajutor, înțelepciune și putere pentru a ne împlini misiunea în viața aceasta scurtă. Temporalitatea ne motivează să avem principii și priorități clare, să ne fixam obiective concrete și să le împlinim pentru slava lui Dumnezeu.

Friday, December 8, 2023: 1 Chronicles, 1:1-54 – Genealogies

The Books of 1 and 2 Chronicles cover the same period of time described in the books of 2 Samuel, 1 & 2 Kings. The books of 2 Samuel and 1 & 2 Kings present the history of the Israelites from a prophetic and moral point of view. They also focus on the royal house, which holds a central place in their lives. In terms of perspective, the Books of Chronicles concentrate on religious issues, offering a spiritual perspective with the House of God occupying the central place.

The Chronicles were not written with the purpose of rewriting or completing the books of 2 Samuel and 1 & 2 Kings. The books of 2 Samuel and 1 & 2 Kings begin with Samuel and Saul, explaining why the Jewish monarchy failed, while the books of 1 and 2 Chronicles start with Adam and Jacob and assure the remnant of Judah that God still has a plan for them. It starts with Adam (1 Chronicles 1:1) and ends with the decree issued by Cyrus, king of Persia, in 538 B.C. (2 Chronicles 36:23).

In the Chronicles, the focus is on the Davidic history and politics, but also on the priestly and Levitical institutions (1 Chronicles 1-9). The reign of Saul is presented in a single chapter (1 Chronicles 10). On the other hand, the reign of David is the central subject of the following 19 chapters, namely chapters 11-29.

The reign of Solomon is presented in the first 9 chapters of the book of 2 Chronicles. The following chapters present the history of the dynasty. Chapter one of 2 Chronicles presents several genealogies:

1.     The Genealogy of Adam (v. 1-4)

2.     The Genealogy of Japheth (v. 5-7)

3.     The Genealogy of Ham (v. 8-16)

4.     The Genealogy of Shem (v. 17-27)

5.     The Period of Abraham (v. 28-34)

6.     The Period of Esau (v. 35-54)

Chapter 1 begins with Adam and ends with the kings of Edom. One of the features of this first chapter is the temporality of life. We will pray to God to give us help, wisdom, and strength to fulfill our mission in this short life. Temporality motivates us to have clear principles and priorities, to set concrete goals, and to achieve them for the glory of God.
