Sâmbătă, 8 iulie 2023, Deuteronom 34:1-12 – Moartea lui Moise

Moise părăsește pentru totdeauna câmpia Moabului și urcă pe muntele Nebo. Mintea îi era plină de amintiri cu această câmpie a Moabului. Urcă și uneori se oprește să privească. Știind că le vede pentru ultima oară, toate aceste lucruri aveau acum o altă semnificație. Departe, spre apus, se întindea Marea cea Mare; către miazănoapte se înălțau spre cer munții Hermonului; către răsărit se întindea podișul Moab, iar dincolo de el Basanul, locul marilor biruințe ale lui Israel; către miazăzi, era pustia în care pribegiseră 40 de ani. Aproape o viață de om!

Probabil s-a gândit la viața lui, în drumul lung și greu spre înălțimea Nebo. Renunțase la tronul Egiptului pentru a se identifica cu destinul poporului lui Dumnezeu. Cei 40 de ani în pustie, Sefora, Ietro, oile, tufișul care ardea fără să se mai stingă, glasul puternic pe care nu l-a uitat niciodată…

Apoi poporul a ieșit din Egipt și a stat un an și jumătate la Sinai. Dumnezeu avea gânduri mari cu poporul acesta. Înainte de a intra în țară s-au răzvrătit, Dumnezeu S-a mâniat și a vrut să-l omoare. Drept pedeapsă, au umblat 40 de ani prin pustie. Un drum greu pentru Moise, foarte greu. Un drum cu oameni nemulțumiți, răzvrătiți, inconsecvenți… iar de cealaltă parte dragostea, răbdarea, mila și minunile Domnului.

Ajuns în vârf, a privit țara, țara pentru care a așteptat 40 de ani ca să o poată vedea. Acum era la un pas. Însă el nu putea să intre. Păcatul are consecințe. Totuși, locul lui era unul mai bun, locul lui era veșnic. Fără răscoale și nemulțumiri, fără lipsuri și sacrificii, doar cu Dumnezeu!

Deși Moise a fost disciplinat pentru actul său de necredință, el a murit în credință și a fost onorat ca unul dintre cei mai mari bărbați ai lui Dumnezeu. Cea mai mare onoare a fost faptul că Dumnezeu l-a îngropat pe Moise (v. 6; Iuda 9). Dumnezeu ,,a oficiat” nunta lui Adam cu Eva și înmormântarea lui Moise.

Înainte să moară, Moise avusese grijă să-și pună mâinile peste Iosua (v. 9). Excelența de care Domnul i-a făcut parte acestui mare rob al Său este zugrăvită în versetul 10: ,,În Israel nu s-a mai ridicat proroc ca Moise, pe care Domnul să-l fi cunoscut față în față.”

Oricât de mare ar ajunge un om, oricât de mult ar trăi, viată se termină într-o zi. Înapoi nu se mai întoarce nimeni niciodată. Ce trebuie făcut, trebuie făcut în viața aceasta, în singura noastră viată biologică. Asemenea unui avion, ce trebuie reparat, trebuie reparat la sol; în aer nu se mai poate repara.

Începem rugăciunea mulțumindu-I Domnului pentru viața pe care ne-a dat-o, pentru că ne-a însoțit în fiecare zi, pentru că ne-a binecuvântat și ne-a mântuit. Vom continua rugăciunea și în a doua parte vom cere putere să ne trăim viața împlinind scopul pe care Domnul îl are cu noi. Îl vom ruga să ne împrospăteze viziunea, să ne lărgească inima, să ne înzestreze cu daruri prin care să zidească Biserica Sa.

Saturday, July 8, 2023: Deuteronomy 34:1-12 – The Death of Moses

Moses leaves the plains of Moab forever and climbs Mount Nebo. His mind was full of memories in this camp at Moab. He ascends and sometimes stops to look. Knowing that he is seeing them for the last time, all these things now had a different meaning. To the far west stretched the Great Sea; to the north, the mountains of Hermon rose to the sky; to the east lay the plateau of Moab, and beyond it, Basan, the place of Israel's great victories; to the south was the wilderness where they had wandered for 40 years. Almost a lifetime!

He probably thought about his life on the long, difficult journey up to Mount Nebo. He had given up the throne of Egypt to identify with the fate of God's people. The 40 years in the desert, Zipporah, Jethro, the sheep, the bush that burned without being consumed, the strong voice he never forgot…

Then the people left Egypt and stayed a year and a half at Sinai. God had big plans for the people. Before entering the land, they rebelled, God got angry and wanted to kill them. As a punishment, they wandered 40 years in the wilderness. It was a hard journey for Moses, very difficult. A journey with dissatisfied, rebellious, inconsistent people… and on the other hand, the love, patience, mercy, and miracles of the Lord.

Arriving at the top, he looked at the land, the land he had waited 40 years to see. Now it was within reach. But he could not enter. Sin has consequences. However, his place was a better one, his place was eternal. Without rebellion and dissatisfaction, without needs and sacrifices, just with God!

Although Moses was disciplined for his act of disbelief, he died in faith and was honored as one of the greatest men of God. The greatest honor was that God buried Moses (v. 6; Jude 9). God “officiated” the wedding of Adam and Eve and the burial of Moses.

Before he died, Moses took care to lay his hands on Joshua (v. 9). The excellence that this great servant of the Lord partook in, is portrayed in verse 10: “Since then, no prophet has arisen in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face.”

No matter how great a person becomes, no matter how long he lives, life ends one day. No one ever goes back. What needs to be done must be done in this life, in our only biological life. Like an airplane, what needs to be repaired must be repaired on the ground; in the air, it can no longer be repaired.

We begin our prayer thanking the Lord for the life He gave us, for accompanying us every day, for blessing us and saving us. We will continue our prayer and in the second part we will ask for strength to live our life fulfilling the purpose that the Lord has for us. We will ask Him to refresh our vision, to broaden our hearts, to endow us with gifts through which to build His Church.
