Miercuri, 8 februarie 2023, Geneza 36:1-43 – Urmașii lui Esau

Genealogia lui Esau este prezentată în trei etape, începând cu primele trei soții ale lui – două hetite și o ismaelită. Narațiunea are doua aspecte importante:

1) Fiii lui Esau s-au născut în Canaan înainte să se mute el la Seir (v. 5). Să cuvine să remarcăm aici faptul că 11 dintre fiii lui Iacov s-au născut în afara granițelor Canaanului, Beniamin fiind singurul său fiu născut în Canaan.

2) Esau era Edom, prin faptul că edomiții erau descendenții lui Esau (Gen. 36:43).

Ca o lecție de încheiere a familiilor lui Iacov și Esau, precizăm faptul că printre lecțiile izvorâte din diferențele dintre acești doi frați, una este vrednică de remarcat. Esau a fost puternic, iar țara peste care a stăpânit era formată din triburi bine dezvoltate. Iacov a locuit în Canaan, neavând o țară și triburi bine dezvoltate. El a fost străin și călător, însă el a construit altare. Privind la diferența dintre cei doi frați, remarcăm faptul că proeminența lumească se construiește mai ușor decât cea spirituală. O binecuvântare spirituală promisă cere răbdare, credință și speranță. Să aștepți împlinirea promisiunilor lui Dumnezeu atunci când acestea întârzie este un test al credincioșiei și al maturității.

În această dimineață Îi mulțumim lui Dumnezeu că ne-a ajutat să rămânem lângă El, credincioși legământului făcut. Apoi, vom cere Domnului puterea să ne concentrăm pe lucrurile spirituale, să investim în casa cerească și să ne dezvoltăm ca oameni ai credinței.

Wednesday, February 8, 2023: Genesis 36:1-43 – Esau’s Descendants

            Esau’s genealogy is presented in three sections, beginning with his first three wives – two Hittites and one Ishmaelite. The narration has two important aspects:

1)    Esau’s sons were born in Canaan, before he moved to Seir (v. 5). It is worthwhile to note that 11 of Jacob’s sons were born outside the borders of Canaan, with Benjamin as the only one born inside Canaan.

2)    Esau was Edom, by the fact that the Edomites were descendants of Esau (Gen 36:43).

As a closing lesson from the families of both Jacob and Esau, we should clarify the fact that among the lessons that flowed from the differences between these two brothers, one is worthy of mention. Esau was strong, and the land he ruled consisted of well-developed tribes. Jacob lived in Canaan, without well-developed tribes and county. He was a stranger and a traveler, but he built altars. When looking at the difference between these two brothers, we note that worldly prominence is built more easily than spiritual prominence. A promised spiritual blessing requires patience, faith, and hope. Waiting for the fulfillment of God’s promises when they are delayed is a test of our own faithfulness and maturity.

            This morning we thank God for helping us stay near Him, faithful to the covenant we made. Then we will ask the Lord for strength to focus on spiritual things, to invest in our heavenly home, and to grow as people of faith.
