Miercuri, 7 iunie 2023, Deuteronom 3:1-29 – Cucerirea țării împăratului Og

Dumnezeu a promis evreilor că-l va da pe Og în mâinile lor, cu toate cele șaizeci de cetăți ale lui (3:4). Regiunea transiordaniana a fost împărțită de semințiile Ruben, Gad și jumătate din Manase (Iosua 14).

Deși Moise I-a mai cerut încă o dată lui Dumnezeu permisiunea de a intra în Țara Promisă, răspunsul lui Dumnezeu a fost ferm: ,,Destul, nu-Mi mai vorbi despre lucrul acesta” (v. 26). Dumnezeu i-a indicat să se urce pe vârful Muntelui Pisga și să vadă țara de departe. De asemenea, îi spune încă o dată să-l pregătească pe Iosua pentru a prelua conducerea țării. Succesiunea la conducere este una dintre temele importante în Deuteronom. Această schimbare este menționată de trei ori în primele trei capitole: 1:38; 3:21, 28.

Urmează să ne rugăm și vom mulțumi lui Dumnezeu pentru lecția de fermitate pe care ne-o dă prin atitudinea Sa față de Moise. Moise a trăit o viață lungă în comparație cu media de viață din generația noastră, însă cei 120 de ani au părut puțini datorită intensității cu care el i-a trăit. Dumnezeu a ales să nu treacă peste necredința lui Moise din timpul incidentului de la Meriba (Numeri 20:12). Vom continua rugăciunea cerând de la Dumnezeu înțelepciunea și puterea de a fi credincioși și ascultători în toate lucrurile.

Wednesday, June 7, 2023: Deuteronomy 3:1-29 – The Conquest of the Land of King Og

God promised the Jews that He would deliver Og into their hands, along with his sixty cities (3:4). The Transjordan region was divided among the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half of Manasseh (Joshua 14).

Although Moses once again asked God for permission to enter the Promised Land, God's response was firm: “Enough, do not speak to me anymore about this matter” (v. 26). God instructed him to go up to the top of Mount Pisgah and view the land from afar. He also once again tells him to prepare Joshua to take over the leadership of the country. The succession of leadership is one of the important themes in Deuteronomy. This change is mentioned three times in the first three chapters: 1:38; 3:21, 28.

Today we will pray and thank God for the lesson of firmness He gives us through His attitude towards Moses. Moses lived a long life compared to the average lifespan of our generation, but his 120 years seem short due to the intensity with which he lived them. God chose not to overlook Moses' disbelief during the incident at Meribah (Numbers 20:12). We will continue our prayer asking God for the wisdom and strength to be faithful and obedient in all things.
