Vineri, 6 octombrie 2023, 2 Samuel 9:1-13 – Bunătatea lui David față de familia lui Saul

Unul dintre secretele succesului lui David, în special pentru semințiile din nordul țării, a fost faptul că a tratat cu multă bunătate familia lui Saul: ,,A mai rămas cineva din casa lui Saul, ca să-i fac bine din pricina lui Ionatan?” (v. 1). David i-a promis lui Ionatan că nu va uita niciodată legământul de prietenie care i-a legat (1 Samuel 20:14-17).

David a aflat de la Tiba, un fost slujitor al lui Saul, despre Mefiboșet, un fiu olog al lui Ionatan. David i-a restituit lui Mefiboșet proprietățile bunicului său, Saul, și i-a oferit o pensie regală (vers. 7). David i-a încredințat lui Tiba și fiilor lui responsabilitatea sa ingrijeasca proprietățile lui Mefiboșet. Lucrul acesta a fost incomod pentru Tiba, care până atunci se bucurase el de aceste moșteniri.

Vom face o rugăciune în această dimineață și vom începe prin a mulțumi lui Dumnezeu pentru ajutorul pe care ni l-a dat în momentele grele prin care am trecut în viață. Este impresionant felul în care Dumnezeu Se îngrijește de Mefiboșet în condiția lui de incapacitate. Apoi, vom cere Domnului o atitudine de mulțumire și recunoștință, atât față de Dumnezeu, cât și față de oamenii pe care Dumnezeu i-a folosit ca să ne binecuvânteze în momentele grele din trecutul nostru. Dumnezeu să fie cinstit și onorat în fiecare zi și în veci!

Friday, October 6, 2023: 2 Samuel 9:1-13 – David's Kindness to Saul's Family

One of David's secrets to success, especially with the tribes in the northern part of the country, was the great kindness with which he treated Saul's family: “Is there still anyone of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan's sake?” (v. 1). David had promised Jonathan that he would never forget their bond of friendship (1 Samuel 20:14-17).

David learned from Ziba, Saul’s former servant, about Mephibosheth, Jonathan's disabled son. David restored to Mephibosheth his grandfather Saul's properties and granted him a royal pension (v. 7). David entrusted Ziba and his sons the responsibility of taking care of Mephibosheth's properties. This was inconvenient for Ziba, who had previously enjoyed these inheritances himself.

We will pray this morning, beginning by thanking God for the support He gave us during challenging times in our lives. It's impressive how God took care of Mephibosheth in his disabled condition. We will then ask the Lord for a heart of gratitude both towards God and the people He used to bless us during tough times in our past. May God be honored and glorified every day and forever!
