Joi, 6 iulie 2023, Deuteronom 32:44-52 – Pregătirea pentru moartea lui Moise

Lanțul muntos Abarim se întinde spre est până la vărsarea râului Iordan în Marea Moarta. Moise a văzut Țara Făgăduinței de pe Muntele Nebo. Pisga și Nebo erau cele două vârfuri ale lanțului muntos Abarim din țara Moabului, având fiecare înălțimea de aproximativ 2800 ft. (aprox. 820 m). Dramatismul din versetele 48-52 este înspăimântător! Uită-te la Moise! Cu aprox. 120 de ani în urmă s-a născut în Egipt într-o perioadă interzisă. S-a născut împotriva legii (Exod 2:1-10).

Primii 40 de ani i-a trăit la palatul regelui în calitate de prinț. Următorii 40 de ani i-a trăit în Madian, în vecinătatea Muntelui Sinai, având meseria de cioban. Apoi, la vârsta de 80 de ani l-a chemat Dumnezeu să elibereze poporul Israel din Egipt și să-l ducă în Canaan. Când era aproape să intre în țară, poporul s-a răzvrătit speriat de veștile fataliste ale celor zece iscoade. Din acest motiv Dumnezeu i-a pedepsit să ,,se învârtă” patruzeci de ani în pustie.

Acum urmau să intre în țară, însă Dumnezeu l-a pedepsit pe Moise ca să nu poată intra – cel mai blând om de pe pământ (Numeri 12:3)! Patruzeci de ani investiți în proiectul lui Dumnezeu… Patruzeci de ani în fruntea unui popor răzvrătit (9:6, 13)… Așa de mult a păcătuit acest popor și Dumnezeu l-a iertat! Când Moise a păcătuit, Dumnezeu l-a pedepsit să nu intre în Canaan. Și acum Dumnezeu îl cheamă să se urce pe vârful Nebo, să vadă Țara Promisă de departe!

Oare Moise a fost cel mai păcătos? Nu. Moise a fost omul în care Dumnezeu a investit cel mai mult. Moise a fost omul căruia Dumnezeu i-a permis să Îl vadă din spate (Exod 33:23). Moise a fost omul care a stat 40 de zile pe munte cu Dumnezeu în timp ce poporul nu a avut voie nici să se apropie de munte. ,,Cui i s-a dat mult, i se va cere mult şi cui i s-a încredințat mult, i se va cere mai mult” (Luca 12:48). Când Dumnezeu îi dă unui om minte, credință, daruri, Se așteaptă ca el să le folosească.

Vom începe rugăciune din această dimineață cu mulțumire. Îi vom mulțumi lui Dumnezeu pentru investiția care a făcut-o în noi. Apoi ne vom ruga stăruitor să ne ajute ,,să sfințim numele Domnului” (Deuteronom 32:51).

Thursday, July 6, 2023: Deuteronomy 32:44-52 – Preparation for Moses’ death

The Abarim mountain range extends eastward to the mouth of the Jordan River in the Dead Sea. Moses saw the Promised Land from Mount Nebo. Pisga and Nebo were the two peaks of the Abarim mountain range in the land of Moab, each with a height of approximately 2800 ft. (approx. 820 m). The drama in verses 48-52 is terrifying! Look at Moses! Approximately 120 years prior, he was born in Egypt during a forbidden period. He was born against the law (Exodus 2:1-10).

He lived the first 40 years at the king's palace as a prince. He spent the next 40 years in Midian, near Mount Sinai, working as a shepherd. Then, at the age of 80, God called him to free the people of Israel from Egypt and lead them to Canaan. When they were about to enter the country, the people rebelled, scared by the fatalistic news of the ten spies. For this reason, God punished them to “wander” forty years in the wilderness.

Now they were about to enter the country, but God punished Moses and he could not enter – the gentlest man on earth (Numbers 12:3)! Forty years invested in God's project… forty years at the head of a rebellious people (9:6, 13)… The people had sinned so much and God forgave them! When Moses sinned, God punished him not to enter Canaan. And now God calls him to climb to the top of Nebo, to see the Promised Land from afar!

Was Moses the most sinful? No. Moses was the man in whom God invested the most. Moses was the man whom God allowed to see Him from behind (Exodus 33:23). Moses was the man who stood 40 days on the mountain with God while the people were not allowed to even approach the mountain. “ From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked” (Luke 12:48). When God gives a man mind, faith, gifts, He expects him to use them.

We will begin this morning's prayer with thanksgiving. We will thank God for the investment He has made in us. Then we will fervently pray that He would help us “uphold the holiness of the name of the Lord” (Deuteronomy 32:51).
