Marți, 5 septembrie 2023, 1 Samuel 9:1-27 – Întâlnirea dintre Samuel și Saul

Saul a fost fiul lui Chis din seminția lui Beniamin și, asemenea tatălui său, a fost un bărbat înalt și frumos. Seminția lui Beniamin era compusă din urmașii celui mai tânăr fiu al lui Iacov. Această seminție era așezată din punct de vedere geografic între Iuda și Efraim și fusese aproape exterminată într-un război civil din perioada judecătorilor (Judecători 20-21). În teritoriul lor se afla Ierusalimul, care încă nu fusese cucerit și a cărui măreție urma să se manifeste în viitor. Saul era din cetatea Ghibea, acolo unde concubina unui levit, căutând ospitalitate, a fost violată și omorâtă (Judecători 19).

Fiindcă măgărițele familiei s-au pierdut, Chis l-a trimis pe fiul său, Saul, împreună cu o slugă, să le caute. După trei zile de căutări zadarnice, Saul a avut intenția să se întoarcă acasă, însă sluga i-a sugerat să intre la omul lui Dumnezeu și să-i ceară ajutorul. Fiind aproape de Muntele lui Efraim unde locuia Samuel, Saul și slujitorul său au stat de vorbă cu profetul despre problema lor. Între timp, Dumnezeu îl înștiințase pe Samuel că Saul este bărbatul pe care trebuie să-l ungă împărat peste Israel. Profetul i-a luat la el acasă, au mâncat împreună, urmând ca a doua zi să-l dedice pe Saul ca rege.

Fiind timpul rugăciunii, vrem să-I mulțumim lui Dumnezeu pentru că ne-a descoperit voia Sa prin Biblie. Aceasta este ,,dreptarul învățăturii sănătoase” (2 Timotei 1:13). Vom continua rugăciunea cerând Domnului să-Și inspire slujitorii, să-i umple cu Duhul Sfânt și să-i călăuzească pentru mântuirea oamenilor și pentru zidirea Bisericii.

Tuesday, September 5, 2023: 1 Samuel 9:1-27 – The Meeting between Samuel and Saul

Saul was the son of Kish from the tribe of Benjamin, and like his father, he was a tall and handsome man. The tribe of Benjamin consisted of the descendants of Jacob's youngest son. Geographically, this tribe was situated between Judah and Ephraim and had been almost exterminated in a civil war during the time of the judges (Judges 20-21). Jerusalem  was within their territory, which had not yet been conquered and whose greatness was to be manifested in the future. Saul was from the city of Gibeah, where a Levite's concubine, seeking hospitality, had been raped and killed (Judges 19).

Because the family's donkeys were lost, Kish sent his son, Saul, along with a servant, to find them. After three days of fruitless search, Saul intended to return home, but the servant suggested they consult the man of God for help. Since they were near Mount Ephraim, where Samuel lived, Saul and his servant spoke to the prophet about their problem. Meanwhile, God had informed Samuel that Saul was the man to be anointed king over Israel. The prophet took them to his home, they ate together, and the next day, Saul was to be dedicated as king.

As it is prayer time, we want to thank God for revealing His will to us through the Bible. This is the “pattern of sound teaching” (2 Timothy 1:13). We will continue our prayer, asking the Lord to inspire His servants, fill them with the Holy Spirit, and guide them to the salvation of people and the building of the Church.
