Miercuri, 5 iunie 2024, Psalm 39:1-13

Psalmul de astăzi are un mesaj asemănător cu psalmul precedent. Diferența constă în faptul că regele David este mai stabil, începe să vadă lumina de la capătul tunelului și are mai multă încredere în restaurarea divină.

În primele șase versete, regele verbalizează gândurile și trăirile lui sufletești:

1. Alege să nu vorbească. ,,Ziceam: „Voi veghea asupra căilor mele, ca să nu păcătuiesc cu limba; îmi voi pune frâu gurii cât va sta cel rău înaintea mea. Am stat mut, în tăcere; am tăcut, măcar că eram nenorocit, şi totuşi durerea mea nu era mai puţin mare” (vers. 1-2).

David a știut că în starea lui de vinovăție, când diavolul îl acuză înaintea lui Dumnezeu, cea mai înțeleaptă vorbire este tăcerea. În suferință omul poate spune lucruri pe care mai târziu le regretă. În astfel de situații, de cele mai multe ori tăcerea este cea mai înțeleaptă vorbire.

2. Versetele 4-6 iau în discuție una dintre întrebările existențiale: Ce este viața, cât de trecătoare este ea? Orice om s-a gândit cel puțin o dată în viață la această întrebare: „Doamne, spune-mi care este sfârşitul vieţii mele, care este măsura zilelor mele, ca să ştiu cât de trecător sunt!” Iată că zilele mele sunt cât un lat de mână şi viaţa mea este ca o nimica înaintea Ta. (Oprire) Da, orice om este doar o suflare, oricât de bine s-ar ţine. Da, omul umblă ca o umbră, se frământă degeaba, strânge la comori şi nu ştie cine le va lua.” (vers. 4-6)

Biblia răspunde la această întrebare spunând că viața este singurul timp în care omul păcătos se poate împăca cu Dumnezeul sfânt, prin Cristos.

De remarcat faptul că omul este mai tentat să se gândească la această întrebare în momentele de criză, suferință, singurătate, eșec, melancolie: ,,Îmi ardea inima în mine, un foc lăuntric mă mistuia, şi atunci mi-a venit cuvântul pe limbă şi am zis…” (vers. 3)

În următoarele șapte versete, David capitulează și se încrede în mod deplin în harul și mila lui Dumnezeu.

1. Harul îi oferă omului ceea ce nu merită – iertarea: ,,Acum, Doamne, ce mai pot nădăjdui eu? În Tine îmi este nădejdea. Izbăveşte-mă de toate fărădelegile mele! Nu mă face de ocara celui nebun! Stau mut, nu deschid gura, căci Tu lucrezi” (vers. 7-9).

2. Mila nu-i dă omului ceea ce merită – pedeapsa: ,,Abate-Ţi loviturile de la mine! Îmi iese sufletul sub loviturile mâinii Tale. Tu pedepseşti pe om şi-l loveşti pentru fărădelegea lui; îi prăpădeşti, ca molia, ce are el mai scump. Da, orice om este doar o suflare. (Oprire) Ascultă-mi rugăciunea, Doamne, şi pleacă-Ţi urechea la strigătele mele! Nu tăcea în faţa lacrimilor mele! Căci sunt un străin înaintea Ta, un pribeag, ca toţi părinţii mei. Abate-Ţi privirea de la mine şi lasă-mă să răsuflu, până nu mă duc şi să nu mai fiu” (vers. 10-13).

Fără harul lui Dumnezeu nu vom avea niciodată iertare. Fără mila lui Dumnezeu nu vom putea scăpa niciodată de pedeapsă. Să prețuim harul și mila lui Dumnezeu, să le însușim cu pocăință și credință și să le păstrăm cu responsabilitate. Fără ele nu avem nimic, dar cu ele avem totul.

Să ne rugăm pentru milă și pentru har. Să ne rugăm pentru noi, casele noastre, Casa lui Dumnezeu și evanghelizarea din România.

Wednesday, June 5, 2024 – Psalm 39:1-13

Today's psalm carries a message similar to the previous one. The difference lies in the fact that King David is more stable, begins to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and has more confidence in divine restoration.

In the first six verses, the king verbalizes his thoughts and the experiences of his soul:

1. He chooses not to speak. “I said, 'I will watch my ways and keep my tongue from sin; I will put a muzzle on my mouth while in the presence of the wicked.' So I remained utterly silent, not even saying anything good. But my anguish increased; my heart grew hot within me.'” (Psalm 39:1-2)

David knew that in his state of guilt, when the devil accuses him before God, the wisest speech is silence. In suffering, a person may say things they later regret. In such situations, silence is often the wisest speech.

2. Verses 4-6 address one of the existential questions: What is life, how fleeting is it? Every person has thought about this question at least once in their life: “Show me, Lord, my life's end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting my life is. You have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you. Everyone is but a breath, even those who seem secure. Surely everyone goes around like a mere phantom; in vain they rush about, heaping up wealth without knowing whose it will finally be.” (Psalm 39:4-6)

The Bible answers this question by saying that life is the only time in which a sinful person can reconcile with the holy God through Christ.

It is noteworthy that a person is more inclined to think about this question during moments of crisis, suffering, loneliness, failure, or melancholy: “My heart grew hot within me. While I meditated, the fire burned; then I spoke with my tongue” (Psalm 39:3).

In the next seven verses, David surrenders and fully trusts in God's grace and mercy.

1. Grace gives a person what they do not deserve – forgiveness: “But now, Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in you. Save me from all my transgressions; do not make me the scorn of fools. I was silent; I would not open my mouth, for you are the one who has done this.” (Psalm 39:7-9 NIV)
2. Mercy does not give a person what they deserve – punishment: “Remove your scourge from me; I am overcome by the blow of your hand. When you rebuke and discipline anyone for their sin, you consume their wealth like a moth – surely everyone is but a breath. Hear my prayer, Lord, listen to my cry for help; do not be deaf to my weeping. I dwell with you as a foreigner, a stranger, as all my ancestors were. Look away from me, that I may enjoy life again before I depart and am no more.” (Psalm 39:10-13 NIV)

Without God's grace, we will never have forgiveness. Without God's mercy, we can never escape punishment. Let us value God's grace and mercy, embrace them with repentance and faith, and keep them with responsibility. Without them, we have nothing, but with them, we have everything.

Let us pray for mercy and grace. Let us pray for ourselves, our homes, God's House, and the evangelization of Romania.
