Marți, 4 iulie 2023, Deuteronom 31:1-29 – Cele din urmă cuvinte ale lui Moise

Din cauza actului de necredință de la Cades, din pustia Tin, lângă apele Meriba, Dumnezeu l-a pedepsit pe Moise și nu i-a permis să intre în Canaan (Numeri 20:1-13). În acest context, Moise l-a împuternicit, l-a încurajat și l-a binecuvântat pe Iosua să conducă poporul și să intre în Țara Promisă. Mai mult, Moise a scris o lege și a încredințat-o preoților, leviților și bătrânilor poporului.

O dată la șapte ani, în anul iertării, de Sărbătoarea Corturilor, preoții trebuiau să citească Legea. Cu prilejul acestei sărbători, bărbații și familiile lor trebuiau să vină la locul de închinare unde preoții citeau Legea în public. Această metodă de expunere la Cuvântul revelat se justifica prin faptul că oamenii nu aveau copii ale Sfintelor Scripturi. De asemenea, pelerinajul la locul de închinare în ziua sărbătorii, împreună cu mulți alți oameni se constituia într-o minunată experiență spirituală.

Pentru a pune în evidență importanța spirituală a cărții Deuteronom, Cartea Legii, Moise a cerut leviților să pună cartea lângă chivot. În interiorul chivotului erau doar cele Zece Porunci. Oamenii credincioși de-a lungul miilor de ani nu L-au avut pe Dumnezeu cu ei în mod vizibil, însă au avut Cuvântul Său și după Cincizecime au avut și Duhul Său.

Începem o nouă zi și urmează să ne rugăm. Ne rugăm începând ca de obicei cu rugăciunea de mulțumire. Îi vom mulțumi lui Dumnezeu pentru că S-a descoperit prin Cuvânt, iar primirea Cuvântului produce credința care conduce la pocăință. Vom continua rugăciunea cerându-I Domnului să ne dea înțelepciunea și puterea de a împlini tot Cuvântul Bibliei.

Fiindcă societatea contemporană este caracterizată de pluralism religios, oamenii au nevoie de un mesaj puternic și articulat, au nevoie de Cuvântul revelat al lui Dumnezeu. Cum ar putea oamenii să ajungă la credință dacă ar avea Cuvântul? ,,Și prin aceasta știm că Îl cunoaștem: dacă păzim poruncile Lui. Cine zice: „Îl cunosc” și nu păzește poruncile Lui este un mincinos și adevărul nu este în el. Dar cine păzește Cuvântul Lui, în el dragostea lui Dumnezeu a ajuns desăvârșită; prin aceasta știm că suntem în El” (1 Ioan 2:3-5).

Because of his disbelief at Kadesh, in the desert of Tsin near the waters of Meribah, God punished Moses and did not allow him to enter Canaan (Numbers 20:1-13). In this context, Moses empowered, encouraged, and blessed Joshua to lead the people and enter the Promised Land. Moreover, Moses wrote a law and entrusted it to the priests, Levites, and elders of the people.

Once every seven years, in the year of forgiveness at the Feast of Tabernacles, the priests had to read the Law. On this holiday, men and their families had to come to the place of worship where the priests read the Law publicly. This method of exposure to the revealed Word was justified by the fact that people did not have copies of the Holy Scriptures. Moreover, the pilgrimage to the place of worship on the holiday, together with many other people, constituted a wonderful spiritual experience.

To highlight the spiritual importance of the book of Deuteronomy, the Book of the Law, Moses asked the Levites to place the book next to the Ark. Only the Ten Commandments were inside the Ark. Faithful people over thousands of years did not have God with them visibly, but they had His Word, and after Pentecost, they also had His Spirit.

We begin a new day and are about to pray. We begin our prayer, as usual, with the prayer of thanks. We will thank God for revealing Himself through the Word; receiving the Word produces faith that leads to repentance. We will continue our prayer asking the Lord to give us the wisdom and strength to fulfill the Word in the Bible.

Because contemporary society is characterized by religious pluralism, people need a strong and articulated message; they need the revealed Word of God. How can people come to faith if they have the Word? “By this we can be sure that we have come to know Him: if we keep His commandments. Whoever says, 'I know Him,' but does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him.” (1 John 2:3-5).
