Luni, 30 octombrie 2023, 1 Regi 9:1-28 – Legământul lui Dumnezeu cu Solomon

În legătură cu Templul construit de regele Solomon este interesant să remarcăm două lucruri:

1)    Chiar dacă Templul este văzut ca locul prezenței lui Dumnezeu, Cuvântul spune: ,,îl voi asculta din ceruri” (2 Cronici 7:14). Capitolele 5-7 din 2 Cronici prezentă sfințirea Templului.

2)    ,,Numele” reprezintă extensia sinelui: ,,voi pune numele Meu în Ierusalim”. ,,Numele” lui Dumnezeu apare în rugăciunea lui Solomon din 1 Regi 8 de 14 ori.

Legământul lui Dumnezeu cu Solomon a stabilit efectele celor două cauze: ascultare și neascultare.

1)    Dacă Solomon va asculta, Dumnezeu Se angajează să îi dea o linie neîntreruptă de urmași care vor domni neîntrerupt în Israel (vers. 4-5).

2)    Dacă Solomon nu va asculta, Dumnezeu va alunga poporul din țara lui și va abandona Casa Domnului – Templul (vers. 7).

Țara s-a dezvoltat puternic sub domnia lui Solomon. În primii 40 de ani ai domniei lui a lucrat 20 de ani la Casa Domnului (7 ani) și la casa lui (13 ani) – vers. 10. Pentru lemnul de cedru pe care Hiram l-a dat lui Solomon ca să construiască Templul și casa împăratului, dar și pentru cele patru tone de aur, Solomon i-a dat zece cetăți.

De asemenea, Solomon a extins de două ori Ierusalimul și a zidit cetăți, precum Hatorul, Meghido și Ghezerul. Avea cetăți în care erau depozitate alimentele, cetăți pentru carele de luptă și cetăți pentru cavalerie. Portul din extremitatea nordică a Golfului Aqaba îi oferea acces spre mare. Hiram i-a trimis marinari fenicieni care erau apreciați ca fiind cei mai buni marinari ai vremii.

Fiind timpul rugăciunii vom mulțumi Domnului pentru victorie și progres. Dumnezeu i-a făcut lui Solomon parte de mult succes. Apoi, continuând rugăciunea, vom cere Domnului alianțe de calitate. Regele Feniciei a fost un partener credincios și cinstit cu regii David și Solomon. Cei 20 de ani în care Solomon a construit, Fenicia a fost aliatul de nădejde. Să ne rugăm Domnului pentru o atitudine de dragoste, bunătate și prietenie. Să căutam pacea și să stabilim relații frățești de prietenie cu biserici și pastori din comunitatea restrânsă și extinsă. Dumnezeu vrea să influențăm frățietatea spre pace și unitate, să promovăm omenia și sfințirea, să practicăm dragostea și iertarea (Evrei 12:14)

Monday, October 30, 2023: 1 Kings 9:1-28 – God's Covenant with Solomon

When it comes to the Temple built by King Solomon, it is interesting to note two things:

1)    Even if the Temple is seen as the place of God's presence, the Word says, “I will hear from heaven” (2 Chronicles 7:14). Chapters 5-7 of 2 Chronicles describe the consecration of the Temple.

2)    “The Name” represents the extension of oneself: “I will put My name in Jerusalem.” God's “Name” appears in Solomon's prayer in 1 Kings 8 fourteen times.

God's covenant with Solomon established the effects of two causes: obedience and disobedience.

1)    If Solomon were to obey, God would commit to giving him an uninterrupted lineage of descendants who would reign continuously in Israel (verses 4-5).

2)    If Solomon were to not obey, God would drive the people out of his land and would abandon the Lord's House – the Temple (verse 7).

The country developed strongly under Solomon's reign. In the first 40 years of his reign, he spent 20 years building the Lord's House (7 years) and his own house (13 years) – verse 10. Solomon gave Hiram ten cities as a thanks for the cedar wood that Hiram gave to Solomon to build the Temple and the king's house, as well as the four tons of gold.

In addition, Solomon expanded Jerusalem twice and built cities such as Hator, Megiddo, and Gezer. He had cities where food was stored, cities for war chariots, and cities for cavalry. The port at the northern end of the Gulf of Aqaba provided him with access to the sea. Hiram sent him Phoenician sailors who were considered the best sailors of the time.

During our prayer time today, we will thank the Lord for victory and progress. God granted Solomon much success. Then, as we continue our prayer, we will ask the Lord for quality alliances. The King of Phoenicia was a faithful and honest partner with Kings David and Solomon. During the 20 years Solomon was building, Phoenicia was a reliable ally. Let us pray to the Lord for an attitude of love, kindness, and friendship. Let's seek peace and establish brotherly relationships with churches and pastors from both the close and extended community. God wants us to influence fraternity towards peace and unity, to promote humanity and holiness, and to practice love and forgiveness (Hebrews 12:14).
