Duminică, 29 octombrie 2023: 1 Regi, 8:1-66 – Dedicarea Templului

După așezarea tuturor accesoriilor la locul lor în Templu, Solomon a adunat poporul pentru a aduce chivotul și a dedica Templul. La această istorică sărbătoare au primit invitații speciale bătrânii poporului, căpeteniile semințiilor și căpeteniile familiilor (vers.1).

Preoții au luat chivotul și uneltele care erau în cortul pe care l-a ridicat regele David pe muntele Sionului, în Cetatea lui David (2 Samuel 6:7). Chivotul a fost așezat în Sfânta Sfintelor sub aripile heruvimilor (vers. 6). Tablele Legii care erau așezate în chivot aminteau poporului despre

Legile Creatorului, însă vasul cu mană și toiagul lui Aaron care înfrunzise fuseră furate de filisteni sau de alți dușmani.

Ca și la dedicarea Cortului (Exod 40:34-35), norul care reprezenta slava Domnului a umplut Templul. Solomon a vorbit cu smerenie și recunoștință poporului, amintind promisiunea divină potrivit căreia ,,numele Domnului va fi pus în Ierusalim”. Termenul ,,numele” apare în rugăciunea lui Solomon de 14 ori.

Apoi Solomon a îngenunchiat pe platforma de bronz, construită special în curtea Templului pentru sărbătoarea de dedicare (2 Cronici 6:13). Fiind îngenunchiat și cu mâinile ridicate, regele s-a rugat, cerând Domnului nouă lucruri:

a.     Prezența și protecția lui Dumnezeu (vers. 25-30)

b.     Iertarea fărădelegilor (vers. 31-12)

c.     Iertarea păcatelor care au cauzat înfrângeri în lupte (vers. 33-34)

d.     Iertarea păcatelor care au cauzat secetă (vers. 35-36)

e.     Iertarea păcatelor care au cauzat calamități (vers. 37-40)

f.      Îndurare pentru străinii care se vor teme de Domnul (vers. 41-43)

g.     Victorie în lupte (vers. 44-45)

h.     Restaurare după captivitate (vers. 46-51

i.      Atenție acordată fiecărei rugăciuni (vers. 52-53)

După ce a încheiat rugăciunea, Solomon s-a ridicat și a rostit binecuvântarea pentru popor. El a amintit că Domnul a dat odihnă poporului, împlinindu-Și promisiunile spuse lui Moise. Apoi, Solomon a cerut trei lucruri:

a.     Domnul să fie cu generația lui cum a fost cu părinții lor (vers. 57)

b.     Domnul să dea poporului voința de a umbla în căile Sale (vers. 58)

c.     Popoarele pământului să cunoască că Domnul este singurul Dumnezeu adevărat (vers. 59-60)

Când Solomon a încheiat vorbirea, s-a pogorât foc din cer și a mistuit arderea de tot. Pentru aceasta unică sărbătoare de consacrare a Templului, Solomon a sacrificat 22.000 de boi și 120.000 de oi.

Vom începe rugăciunea mulțumindu-I Domnului pentru modelul de slujire și responsabilitate al lui Solomon. Să aduci ca jertfă 22.000 de boi și 120.000 de oi?! Ca să numeri aceste 142.000 de animale îți trebuie aproximativ 60 de ore. Cât timp îți trebuie să înjunghii aceste animale, să le pregătești și să le aduci jertfă?! Cați preoți și leviți au fost implicați?! Câte grătare au fost necesare?! Apoi ne vom ruga să facem lucrarea Domnului cu băgare de seamă. Absența acestei atitudini în slujire atrage blestemul lui Dumnezeu (Ieremia 48:10).

Sunday, October 29, 2023: 1 Kings 8:1-66 – Dedication of the Temple

After placing all the accessories in their place in the Temple, Solomon gathered the people to bring the ark and dedicate the Temple. At this historic celebration, special invitations were given to the elders of the people, the heads of the tribes, and the heads of the families (verse 1).

The priests took the ark and the tools that were in the tent that King David had raised on Mount Zion, in the City of David (2 Samuel 6:7). The ark was placed in the Holy of Holies under the wings of the cherubim (verse 6). The Tablets of the Law that were placed in the ark reminded the people of the Laws of the Creator, but the vessel with manna and Aaron's rod that had budded were stolen by the Philistines and other enemies.

As with the dedication of the Tabernacle (Exodus 40:34-35), a cloud representing the glory of the Lord filled the Temple. Solomon spoke humbly and gratefully to the people, recalling the divine promise that “the Name of the Lord will be placed in Jerusalem.” The term “name” appears in Solomon's prayer 14 times.

Then Solomon knelt on the bronze platform, specially built in the Temple courtyard for the dedication celebration (2 Chronicles 6:13). Kneeling with raised hands, the king prayed, asking the Lord for nine things:

a)     God's presence and protection (verses 25-30)

b)    Forgiveness of sins (verses 31-32)

c)     Forgiveness for sins that caused defeats in battles (verses 33-34)

d)    Forgiveness for sins that caused drought (verses 35-36)

e)     Forgiveness for sins that led to calamities (verses 37-40)

f)     Mercy for foreigners who would fear the Lord (verses 41-43)

g)    Victory in battles (verses 44-45)

h)    Restoration after captivity (verses 46-51)

i)      Attention to every prayer (verses 52-53)

After finishing his prayer, Solomon stood up and pronounced a blessing on the people. He reminded them that the Lord had given rest to the people, fulfilling His promises to Moses. Solomon then asked for three things:

a)     The Lord to be with his generation as He was with their parents (verse 57)

b)    The Lord to give the people the will to walk in His ways (verse 58)

c)     The nations of the earth to know that the Lord is the only true God (verses 59-60)

When Solomon finished speaking, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering. For this unique dedication celebration of the Temple, Solomon sacrificed 22,000 oxen and 120,000 sheep.

We will start our prayer by thanking the Lord for Solomon's model of service and responsibility. Offering 22,000 oxen and 120,000 sheep as a sacrifice?! To count these 142,000 animals you would need approximately 60 hours. How long would it take to slaughter these animals, prepare them, and offer them as a sacrifice?! How many priests and Levites were involved?! How many grills were needed?! Then we will pray to the Lord to help us do His work with care. The absence of this attitude in service attracts God's curse (Jeremiah 48:10).
