Marți, 30 mai 2023, Numeri 31:1-54 – Judecata lui Dumnezeu împotriva madianiților

Dumnezeu a poruncit lui Moise să se ,,răzbune” împotriva madianiților pentru că i-au atras în apostazie pe evrei la Baal-Peor (25:16-18). Acesta a fost văzut ca un război sfânt pentru că era un război al Domnului. Erau aduse uneltele din Cort, preotul Elezar și 12.000 de oameni înarmați. Toți soldații și toți bărbații madianiți au fost uciși. Între ei erau și cei cinci împărați madianiți și profetul Balaam care se întorsese din Baal-Peor și se aliase cu madianiții.

Este greu de înțeles de ce Balaam s-a aliat cu madianiții după ce a prorocit despre victoriile pe care urma să le aibă Israelul. De asemenea, au fost omorâte toate femeile și toți copiii madianiți – femeile pentru că au ademenit pe Israel spre păcat la Baal-Peor și băieții pentru că urmau să devină viitoarea armată madianită. Au fost lasate în viață doar fetele virgine care au devenit roabe sau țiitoare ale evreilor. 

Blestemul lui Dumnezeu a căzut peste această națiune idolatră care a atras în păcat poporul lui Dumnezeu. Cine trăiește în păcat va avea parte de pedeapsă.

În rugăciunea din această dimineață vom mulțumi pentru darul vieții. Apoi vom cere protecția și binecuvântarea Domnului peste familiile și viitorul nostru.

Tuesday, May 30, 2023: Numbers 31:1-54 – God's Judgment on the Midianites

God commanded Moses to “avenge” the Israelites against the Midianites because they had led them into apostasy at Baal-Peor (25:16-18). This was seen as a holy war because it was the Lord's war. The articles from the Tabernacle were brought, along with the priest Eleazar and 12,000 armed men. All the Midianite soldiers and men were killed. Among them were the five Midianite kings and the prophet Balaam, who had returned from Baal-Peor and allied himself with the Midianites.

It is difficult to understand why Balaam allied himself with the Midianites after prophesying about the victories that Israel would have. Additionally, all the Midianite women and boys were killed – the women because they had enticed Israel to sin at Baal-Peor, and the boys because they would have become the future Midianite army. Only the virgin girls were left alive, and they became slaves or servants of the Israelites.

God's curse fell upon this idolatrous nation that led God's people into sin. Those who live in sin will receive punishment.

In this morning's prayer, we will give thanks for the gift of life. Then we will ask for the protection and blessings of the Lord upon our families and our future.
