Duminică, 30 iulie 2023, Iosua 22:1-34 – Trimiterea celor două seminții și jumătate acasă

Acum, când toate teritoriile țării au fost repartizate semințiilor lui Israel, Iosua a lăudat cele două seminții și jumătate pentru dedicarea, responsabilitatea și vitejia lor. Semințiile lui Ruben, Gad și jumătate din Manase au primit teritorii dincolo de Iordan, însă au venit împreună cu frații lor dincoace de Iordan pentru a lupta pentru cucerirea Canaanului. Șapte ani au fost separați de familiile lor și au luptat alături de frații lor din celelalte seminții, însă țara fiind acum repartizată în întregime, a venit timpul ca ei să se întoarcă acasă.

Plecând de la Silo, armata celor două seminții și jumătate (semințiile estice) a ajuns să treacă Iordanul și amintirile miraculoase ale trecerii Iordanului cu 7 ani înainte le-a copleșit sufletul. Iordanul îi despărțea de celelalte 9 seminții și jumătate (semințiile vestice) și pentru prima oară au încercat un sentiment de izolare. Iordanul nu era un simplu râu. Pe ambele maluri se ridicau munți înalți de 700 de metri. Valea Iordanului dintre acești munți avea o lățime între 8 și 20 de km.

Fiind copleșiți de emoții, s-au gândit că ar fi de folos să construiască un altar foarte înalt, care să rămână mărturie a dreptului lor de a se închina înaintea altarului de dincolo de Iordan, unde se așezaseră cele 9 seminții și jumătate. Când semințiile vestice au auzit că cele 2 seminții și jumătate au ridicat un altar lângă Iordan, s-au strâns la Silo, locul unde era adevăratul altar, și și-au asumat că semințiile estice au construit acest nou altar ca un simbol al lepădării de Dumnezeu, al revoltei împotriva lui Dumnezeu. Au alcătuit un grup reprezentativ și au mers dincoace de Iordan la semințiile estice.

Odată ajunși, le-au reproșat semințiilor estice că s-au lepădat de Dumnezeu. Comandanții semințiilor estice le-au vorbit cu înțelepciune și blândețe, explicându-le faptul că ei nu s-au răzvrătit împotriva lui Dumnezeu și că acest altar este doar un simbol al faptului că și ei sunt parte din același popor cu semințiile vestice. Altarul de la Silo este al întregului popor, indiferent unde este așezat în raport cu râul Iordan. Toți s-au întors acasă liniștiți, bucuroși de unitatea lor națională.

O nouă dimineață, o nouă perspectivă, o nouă rugăciune. Vom mulțumi lui Dumnezeu pentru că ne-a dat înțelepciune în conflictele și încercările vieții, pentru ca să putem acorda prioritate împăcării, unității și părtășiei frățești, alegând să trecem peste potențialele piedici sau pricini de poticnire. Apoi, vom continua rugăciunea cu scopul să cerem ajutorul Domnului. Uneori în propriul suflet se nasc conflicte interioare, sau poate se nasc conflicte în familie, în biserică sau chiar între noi și Dumnezeu. Să cerem discernământ, o atitudine pașnică, puterea de a vorbi fără să ridicăm tonul și intenția să urmărim pacea și unitatea cu orice preț.

Sunday, July 30, 2023: Joshua 22:1-34 – Two and a Half Tribes Sent Home

When all the territories of the country had been distributed to the tribes of Israel, Joshua praised the two and a half tribes for their dedication, responsibility, and bravery. The tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half of Manasseh received territories beyond Jordan, but they came together with their brothers on the other side of Jordan to fight for the conquest of Canaan. They were separated from their families for seven years and fought alongside their brothers from the other tribes, but now that the land had been entirely distributed, it was time for them to return home.

Departing from Shiloh, the army of the two and a half tribes (the Eastern tribes) reached the Jordan River, and the miraculous memories of crossing the Jordan seven years prior overwhelmed their souls. The Jordan separated them from the other nine and a half tribes (the Western tribes), and for the first time, they experienced a sense of isolation. The Jordan wasn't just a river. Mountains that were 700 meters high rose on both banks. The Jordan Valley between these mountains was between 8 and 20 km wide.

Overwhelmed by emotions, they thought it would be helpful to build a very tall altar, which would remain as a testament to their right to worship before the altar across the Jordan, where the nine and a half other tribes had settled. When the Western tribes heard that the two and a half tribes had erected an altar near the Jordan, they gathered at Shiloh, where the true altar was, and assumed that the Eastern tribes had built this new altar as a symbol of renunciation of God, of rebellion against God. They formed a representative group and went across the Jordan to the Eastern tribes.

Once they arrived, they reproached the Eastern tribes for forsaking God. The commanders of the Eastern tribes spoke to them wisely and gently, explaining that they had not rebelled against God and that this altar was just a symbol that they too are part of the same people as the Western tribes. The altar at Shiloh was for the entire people, regardless of where it was located relative to the Jordan River. Everyone went home peacefully, happy with their national unity.

It is a new morning, a new perspective, time for a new prayer. We will thank God for giving us wisdom in life's conflicts and trials, so we can prioritize reconciliation, unity, and brotherly fellowship, choosing to overcome potential obstacles or stumbling blocks. Then, we will continue the prayer with the aim of asking the Lord for help. Sometimes internal conflicts arise in our own soul, or conflicts may arise in the family, in the church, or even between us and God. Let's ask for discernment, a peaceful attitude, the power to speak without raising our voices, and the intention to pursue peace and unity at all costs.
