Duminică, 29 ianuarie 2023, Geneza 26:1-35 – Crizele din viața lui Isaac

Cartea Geneza are 50 de capitole. Începe cu prezentarea creației și se încheie cu moartea lui Iosif, strănepotul lui Avraam. Structura cărții Geneza este formată din două secțiuni. În prima secțiune, 1:1-11:9, deși sunt prezentate personaje notabile, precum Adam și Eva, Abel și Cain, Set, Enoh, Lameh, Noe și Nimrod, evenimentele importante sunt Creația și Căderea împreună cu implicațiile lor uriașe.

În cea de-a doua secțiune, 11:10-50:26, narațiunea este dominată de cei trei mari patriahi, Avraam, Iacov și Iosif. Despre Isaac se vorbește doar în capitolul 25; despre Avraam se vorbește din capitolul 12 până la 25; despre Iacov de la 25 la 36; despre Iosif se vorbește cel mai  mult, de la capitolul 37 la 50.

Binecuvântările care au fost revărsate peste Isaac datorită tatălui său, Avraam, au venit la pachet cu slăbiciunile tatălui său. În timpul foametei, Isaac s-a relocat în Gherar și, asemenea tatălui său, a mințit că soția îi este soră. Devenind foarte bogat, filistenii l-au invidiat și împăratul Abimelec l-a alungat din Gherar. De ce Isaac nu s-a încrezut în Dumnezeu și a mințit ca să-și scape viața? Nu a văzut el mâna lui Dumnezeu pe muntele Moria când l-a scăpat pentru a nu fi adus ca jertfă?

Astăzi vom începe rugăciunea mulțumindu-I lui Dumnezeu pentru că ne-a scăpat din necazurile vieții. Apoi ne vom ruga Domnului să ne ajute să ne încredem în el, atunci când vom fi ispitiți să folosim minciuna pentru a scăpa din crizele vieții.

Sunday, January 29, 2023: Genesis 26: 1-35 – The Crises in Isaac’s Life

The book of Genesis has 50 chapters. It begins with creation and ends with the death of Joseph, Abraham’s great-grandson. The structure of the book of Genesis consists of two sections. In the first section, 1:1-11:9, although notable characters such as Adam and Eve, Abel and Cain, Seth, Enoch, Lamech, Noah, and Nimrod are introduced, the most important events are the Creation and the Fall with their huge implications.

In the second section, 11:10-50:26, the narrative is dominated by the three great patriarchs, Abraham, Jacob, and Joseph. Isaac is spoken of only in chapter 25; Abraham is spoken of from chapter 12 to 25, Jacob from 25 to 36, and Joseph is talked about the most, from chapter 37 to 50.

The blessings that were showered upon Isaac because of his father Abraham, came along with his father’s weaknesses. During the famine, Isaac relocated to Gerar and, like his father, lied that his wife was his sister. He became very rich, the Philistines envied him, and King Abimelech drove him out of Gerar. Why did Isaac not trust God and instead lied to save his own life? Had he not seen the hand of God on Mount Moriah when He saved him from being offered as a sacrifice?

Today we will begin our prayer by thanking God for delivering us from the troubles of life. Then we will ask the Lord to help us trust him when we are tempted to use lies to escape life’s crises.
