Sâmbătă, 27 aprilie 2024, Iov 42:1-17 – Al doilea răspuns al lui Iov către Dumnezeu

În primul său răspuns din capitolul 40, Iov, văzând minunile lui Dumnezeu, a acceptat că este un muritor limitat. În capitolul de față, Iov a recunoscut păcatul mândriei lui și suveranitatea Dumnezeului Atotputernic.

Iov a recunoscut că a vorbit fără înțelepciune despre lucruri care trec dincolo de capacitatea lui de a le înțelege (vers. 3). De asemenea, Iov recunoaște că a avut o părere limitată și greșită despre Dumnezeu. După ce Dumnezeu i S-a arătat prin minunile din ultimele capitole ale cărții, Iov a fost uimit și rușinat (vers. 1-6).

,,De aceea mi-e scârbă de mine şi mă pocăiesc în ţărână şi cenuşă.” (vers. 6)

Iov a regretat că L-a acuzat pe Dumnezeu și a renunțat la plângerile lui despre incapacitatea lui Dumnezeu de a face dreptate și de a conduce lumea pe care a creat-o. În urma pocăinței, Dumnezeu l-a iertat pe Iov și l-a binecuvântat cu mult mai mult decât a avut înainte (vers. 12-17).

Mai mult, Dumnezeu i-a vorbit lui Elifaz. I-a spus că este mâniat pe el și pe cei doi tovarăși ai lui. Le-a cerut să aducă jertfe și să-și ceară iertare de la Iov pentru că ei ,,nu au vorbit așa de drept despre Dumnezeu cum a vorbit Iov” (vers. 7-8).

Rudele și prietenii au venit la el, s-au bucurat, au plâns și l-au mângâiat (vers. 11).

Lecția de viață a acestui pasaj este că întotdeauna cel care așteaptă cu încredere și speranță va fi binecuvântat pentru că Dumnezeu este dragoste. Să ne rugăm Domnului și să mulțumim pentru mântuire și binecuvântări, însă să cerem și înțelepciune, răbdare și încredere.

Saturday, April 27, 2024: Job 42:1-17 – Job's Second Response to God

In his first response in Chapter 40, Job, having witnessed the wonders of God, accepted his limited mortal status. In the present chapter, Job acknowledges his sin of pride and the sovereignty of the Almighty God.

Job admitted that he spoke without wisdom about things beyond his understanding (verse 3). Additionally, Job realized that he had a limited and incorrect view of God. After God revealed Himself through the miracles in the last chapters of the book, Job was astonished and ashamed (verses 1-6).

“Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes.” (verse 6)

Job regretted accusing God and renounced his complaints about God's inability to administer justice and govern the world He created. Following his repentance, God forgave Job and blessed him with far more than he had before (verses 12-17).

Furthermore, God spoke to Eliphaz. He told him that He was angry with him and his two companions. He asked them to offer sacrifices and seek Job's forgiveness because they “did not speak of me in truth, as my servant Job has” (verses 7-8).

Relatives and friends came to him, rejoiced, wept, and comforted him (verse 11).

The life lesson from this passage is that those who wait with trust and hope will be blessed because God is love. Let us pray to the Lord and give thanks for salvation and blessings, but also ask for wisdom, patience, and trust.
