Sâmbătă, 26 august 2023, Rut 4:1-22) – Căsătoria lui Boaz cu Rut

Boaz s-a dus la poarta cetății, locul unde se rezolvau problemele personale și civile. Atunci când ruda mai apropiată de Elimelec a trecut prin apropiere, Boaz l-a invitat să se așeze, atât pe el, cât și pe zece dintre bătrânii cetății. Apoi, Boaz l-a întrebat în public, în prezența a zece dintre bătrânii cetății, dacă vrea să răscumpere proprietatea cumpărată de Mahlon înainte să moară. El a acceptat. Atunci Boaz i-a explicat că el va trebui s-o răscumpere și pe Rut, soția lui Mahlon. Ruda apropiată a refuzat dreptul de răscumpărare pe care-l avea. Atunci Boaz, fiind următorul răscumpărător, a acceptat să răscumpere proprietatea lui Mahlon și pe Rut Moabita. Bătrânii cetății, care au fost martori, s-au bucurat și l-au binecuvântat pe Boaz, s-au rugat pentru el ca să aibă un nume în Betleem și să aibă copii de care se va folosi Dumnezeu. De asemenea, i-au urat lui Rut să nască copii și să fie o mamă în Israel.

Boaz s-a căsătorit cu Rut și ea a născut un fiu pe care l-a numit Obed. Obed a fost tatăl lui Isai, iar Isai a fost tatăl regelui David. Este impresionant să vedem cum dintr-o văduvă moabită, singură și nefericită, Dumnezeul cel Atotputernic a făcut o mamă care a devenit străbunica regelui David. O noră credincioasă, miloasă și respectuoasă față de Naomi, soacra ei, a avut parte de credincioșia și mila lui Dumnezeu. Așa face Dumnezeu cu oamenii care se tem de El, care-L ascultă și Îl urmează.

Este timpul rugăciunii și vom începe prin a mulțumi lui Dumnezeu pentru că are milă și ascultă rugăciunile. Apoi vom continua rugăciunea cerând de la Domnul să ne descopere voia Sa, chemarea Sa, darul Său pentru a trăi în voia Sa.

Saturday, August 26, 2023: Ruth 4:1-22 – Boaz's Marriage to Ruth

Boaz went to the city gate, the place where personal and civil matters were resolved. When the relative closer to Elimelech passed by, Boaz invited him to sit down, along with ten of the city's elders. Then, in public, in the presence of the ten elders, Boaz asked him if he wanted to redeem the property that Mahlon had purchased before he died. He agreed. Boaz then explained that he would also have to redeem Ruth, Mahlon's wife. The close relative declined the right of redemption he had. Then Boaz, as the next in-line guardian-redeemer, agreed to redeem both Mahlon's property and Ruth the Moabite. The city's elders, who were witnesses, rejoiced and blessed Boaz, praying for him to have a renowned name in Bethlehem and to have offspring whom God would use. They also wished for Ruth to bear children and become a mother in Israel.

Boaz married Ruth, and she gave birth to a son named Obed. Obed was the father of Jesse, and Jesse was the father of King David. It is striking to see how from a lonely and unhappy Moabite widow, the Almighty God made a mother who became the great-grandmother of King David. A faithful, kind, and respectful daughter-in-law to Naomi, her mother-in-law, experienced God's faithfulness and mercy. This is how God treats those who fear Him, obey Him, and follow Him.

It is time for prayer, and we'll start by thanking God for His mercy and for hearing our prayers. We will then continue our prayer, asking the Lord to reveal His will, His calling, and His gift so that we may live according to His purpose.
