Capitolul luat în discuție arată slujba zilnică și săptămânală din Cortul Întâlnirii. Lecția acestor ceremonii puse alături de cele 6 mari sărbători din an pune în evidență sfințirea și slujirea fiecărei zile, nu doar a marilor evenimente anuale.

Cele 12 pâini pentru punerea înainte simbolizau cele 12 seminții ale poporului evreu. Aceste pâini erau consumate de preoți în fiecare zi de odihnă. Fiind sfinte, aceste pâini nu putea fi mâncate decât de preoți. Arderea de tămâie asigura ,,aroma ceremoniei” care înlocuia arderea de făină pe altar.

După cum oamenii erau sfătuiți să nu abuzeze de folosirea numelui lui Dumnezeu, tot așa pronunțarea unui blestem în numele Domnului era considerată blasfemie. O altă lege invocată în acest capitol este legea talionului – ,,mână pentru mână” și ,,ochi pentru ochi”. Scopul acestei legi este să amintească evreilor că pedeapsa trebuie să fie direct proporțională cu infracțiunea.

Începem rugăciunea din această dimineață mulțumind lui Dumnezeu pentru că ne-a descoperit voia Sa. Apoi ne vom ruga Domnului să ne ferească de blasfemie.

Wednesday, April 26, 2023: Leviticus 24:1-23 – Ceremonial and Moral Regulations

The chapter at hand shows the daily and weekly services in the Tent of Meeting. The lesson of these ceremonies, along with the six major festivals of the year, highlights the sanctification and service of each day, not just the major annual events.

The 12 loaves of bread for the offering symbolized the 12 tribes of the Jewish people. These loaves were consumed by the priests every Sabbath. Since they were holy, these loaves could only be eaten by the priests. The burning of incense provided the “aroma of the ceremony” that replaced the burning of flour on the altar.

Just as people were advised not to abuse the use of God's name, so the pronouncement of a curse in the name of the Lord was considered blasphemy. Another law invoked in this chapter is the law of talion – “an eye for an eye” and “a tooth for a tooth.” The purpose of this law is to remind the Jews that punishment should be directly proportional to the offense.

We begin our prayer this morning by thanking God for revealing His will to us. Then we will pray to the Lord to protect us from blasphemy.
