Duminică, 25 iunie 2023, Deuteronom 22:1-30 – Animalele și lucrurile rătăcite, amestecul semințelor și țesăturilor, pedeapsa pentru curvie și preacurvie

Legea cu privire la animalele pierdute nu combate în primul rând însușirea animalului găsit, ci faptul că îl ocolești, în loc să îl duci stăpânului care l-a pierdut – o nouă imagine a poruncii omeniei: ,,Tot ce voiți să vă facă vouă oamenii, faceți-le voi mai întâi” (Matei 7:12). Dacă găsitorul animalului nu știa cine este stăpânul sau acesta locuia prea departe de el, trebuia să păstreze animalul acasă până stăpânul vine să-l ia. Și prin aceste exemple, Dumnezeu Se ridică împotriva păcatului de omitere, de indiferență și nepăsare.

Travestirea este, de asemenea, un păcat înaintea lui Dumnezeu pentru că ascunde adevărul despre genul persoanei (22:5). Distincția dintre genuri face parte din ordinea creată de Dumnezeu. Această practică este asociată cu homosexualitatea. Cuvântul folosit este ,,urâciune, lucru detestabil”.

Imaginea cuibului cu o pasăre care stă cu puii este de o sensibilitate profundă. Dumnezeu poruncește: ,,…dă-i drumul mamei și să nu-i iei decât puii” (v. 7). Respectul pentru viață, pentru perpetuarea speciilor, pentru echilibru, pentru autocontrol, pentru pasiune, pentru simțul măsurii….

Cine își construia o casă nouă trebuia să-și pună ,,pălimar”, adică balustradă. Aceasta era legea civilă, una dintre cele trei legi de care vorbește Vechiul Testament. Acoperișurile fiind plate, în absența precipitațiilor, s-a format obiceiul oamenilor de a sta pe acoperiș, urcându-se pe o scară exterioară. În această situație, pentru siguranță, se impunea prezența balustradei de protecție.

Este mai mult decât impresionant că Dumnezeu Se gândește la aceste lucruri atât de mici, chiar banale. Toate aceste exemple sugerează respectul lui Dumnezeu pentru viață, pentru siguranță și fericire. Este impresionant și glorios Dumnezeu! Atunci când Îl cunoști, nu mai poți niciodată trăi fără El.

Să-I mulțumim pentru această iubire neînțeleasă, această grijă dumnezeiască. Acum înțelegem de ce a nu avea încredere în Dumnezeu este păcat. Apoi să ne rugăm pentru a ne asuma și noi această grijă și iubire față de oameni si mai ales față de cei din casa noastră.

The law regarding lost animals does not primarily combat the appropriation of the found animal, but rather the fact that you avoid it, instead of taking it to the owner who lost it – a new image of humanity’s command: “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you” (Matthew 7:12). If the finder of the animal did not know who the owner was or if the owner lived too far from him, he had to keep the animal at home until the owner came to take it. Through these examples, God takes a stand against the sin of omission, indifference, and apathy.

Cross-dressing is also a sin before God because it hides the truth about a person's gender (22:5). The distinction between genders is part of the order created by God. This practice is associated with homosexuality. The word used is “an abomination, detestable thing.”

The image of the nest with a bird sitting with its chicks is of profound sensitivity. God commands: “… you may take the young, but be sure to let the mother go” (v. 7). Respect for life, for the perpetuation of species, for balance, for self-control, for passion, for a sense of measure…

Whoever was building a new house had to put up a “guardrail”, that is, a railing. This was a civil law, one of the three law types mentioned in the Old Testament. As roofs were flat and it was often dry, people formed the habit of sitting on the roof, climbing up an outside staircase. In this situation, for safety, the presence of a protective railing was required.

It is impressive that God thinks of these small, even banal things. All these examples suggest God's respect for life, for safety and happiness. How impressive and glorious God is! Once you know Him, you can never live without Him.

Let us thank Him for this unfathomable love, this divine care. Now we understand why not trusting God is a sin. Let us also pray to employ this care and love for people and especially for those in our own house.
