Marți, 25 iulie 2023, Iosua 17:1-18 – Ținutul repartizat lui Manase

Efraim și Manase, fiii lui Iosif, au fost binecuvântați ca întâi născuți pentru că au fost adoptați de Iacov, bunicul lor (Geneza 48:5). Regiunea repartizată lui Manase, asemenea lui Efraim, se întindea de la râul Iordan la Marea Mediterană, ambele fiind învecinate – granița de sud a lui Manase cu granița de nord a lui Efraim. Ca și Efraim, Manase a supus pe locuitorii țării la tribut, în loc să-i biruiască și să-i alunge din țară.

Conducătorii lui Efraim și Manase s-au plâns la Iosua că au prea puțin teritoriu pentru numărul mare al semințiilor lor. Iosua le-a sugerat să despădurească muntele și să alunge fereziții și refaimiții din ținutul lor.

Și Caleb ceruse mai mult pământ (14:6-15), însă cererea lui era motivată de credință, în timp ce a lor era motivată de teamă. Intenția lui Iosua a fost să-i motiveze să elibereze țara de populațiile autohtone și în felul acesta să intre pe deplin în moștenirea promisă de Dumnezeu.

Este dimineață și ne vom ruga, începând cu mulțumire. Vom mulțumi lui Dumnezeu pentru că este credincios și Își împlinește promisiunile făcute. Apoi vom continua rugăciunea cerând de la Dumnezeu curaj, o viziune specifică timpului pe care îl trăim și puterea de a ne reprezenta drepturile și identitatea în fața dușmanilor.

Tuesday, July 25, 2023: Joshua 17:1-18 – The Land Assigned to Manasseh

Ephraim and Manasseh, the sons of Joseph, were blessed as firstborns because they were adopted by Jacob, their grandfather (Genesis 48:5). The region assigned to Manasseh, like Ephraim, stretched from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, and they were neighboring – the southern border of Manasseh with the northern border of Ephraim. Like Ephraim, Manasseh subjected the inhabitants of the country to tribute, instead of defeating them and driving them out of the country.

The leaders of Ephraim and Manasseh complained to Joshua that they had too little territory for the large size of their tribes. Joshua suggested they clear the forested mountain and drive the Perizzites and the Rephaim from their land.

Caleb had also asked for more land (14:6-15), but his request was motivated by faith, while theirs was motivated by fear. Joshua's intention was to motivate them to liberate the country from the indigenous populations, and thus fully enter into the inheritance promised by God.

It is morning and we will pray, beginning with thanksgiving. We will thank God because He is faithful and fulfills His promises. Then we will continue our prayer asking God for courage, a vision specific to the time we are living, and the power to represent our rights and identity in front of our enemies.
