Luni, 24 iulie 2023, Iosua 16:1-10 – Ținutul repartizat seminției lui Efraim

Familia lui Iosif era alcătuită din două seminții, Efraim și Manase. Ei au moștenit regiunea bogată și protejată din centrul Canaanului. Pentru că Iosif a salvat familia extinsă a tatălui său, Iacov, în perioada de secetă, acesta din urmă a poruncit ca Efraim și Manase, fiii lui Iosif, să fie căpeteniile semințiilor lor (Geneza 48:5).

Regiunea repartizată lui Efraim se întindea de la râul Iordan până la Marea Mediterană. În acest ținut era Silo, locul unde Cortul Întâlnirii a rămas pentru 300 de ani. Efraim nu a izgonit Canaaniții din țară, bucurându-se de un câștig suplimentar prin impunerea unei taxe pe care canaaniții trebuiau s-o plătească. Peste câteva secole, în perioada judecătorilor, canaaniții s-au înmulțit și i-au înrobit pe eframiți în propria lor țară.

Începem rugăciunea din această dimineață mulțumindu-I Domnului pentru moștenirea din cer și de pe pământ de care ne-a făcut parte fiecăruia în mod specific. Apoi, continuăm rugăciunea, cerând de la Dumnezeu puterea și înțelepciunea de a alunga ,,dușmanul” (pe diavolul) din moștenirea noastră.

Monday, July 24, 2023: Joshua 16:1-10 – The Land Assigned to the Tribe of Ephraim

Joseph’s family consisted of two tribes, Ephraim and Manasseh. They inherited the rich and protected region in the center of Canaan. Because Joseph saved his father Jacob's extended family during the drought, Jacob commanded that Ephraim and Manasseh, Joseph's sons, should be the leaders of their tribes (Genesis 48:5).

The region assigned to Ephraim stretched from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea. Shiloh was in this land, the place where the Tent of Meeting remained for 300 years. Ephraim did not expel the Canaanites from the country, enjoying additional gain by imposing a tax that the Canaanites had to pay. After a few centuries, in the time period of the judges, the Canaanites multiplied and enslaved the Ephraimites in their own country.

We begin this morning's prayer by thanking the Lord for the inheritance in heaven and on earth that he has specifically made each of us a part of. Then, we will continue our prayer, asking God for the strength and wisdom to drive out the “enemy” (the devil) from our inheritance.
