Joi, 25 ianuarie 2024: 2 Cronici 20:1-37 – Victoria lui Iosafat asupra Moabiților și Amoriților

Iosafat avea 35 de ani când a ajuns împărat și a domnit 25 de ani la Ierusalim. Mama lui se numea Azuba. Cronicarul remarcă faptul că Iosafat a umblat în căile bune ale tatălui său, Asa. 

O coaliție formată din Amoniți, Moabiți și Maoniți au atacat Ierusalimul. Maoniții erau Edomiții din Muntele Seir (1 Cronici 4:41). Regele Iosafat a anunțat un post național și a îndemnat poporul să caute fața Domnului. El însuși s-a rugat, lăudându-L pe Dumnezeu pentru puterea, harul și Locașul Său cel sfânt (v. 6-13).

Domnul a răspuns cu milă, inspirându-l pe levitul Iehazaiel să îmbărbăteze poporul. De două ori a spus: ,,Nu vă temeți și nu vă înspăimântați” (v. 15, 17). Dumnezeu i-a asigurat că această luptă nu este a lor, ci este a Lui, asemenea situației cu uriașul Goliat (1 Samuel 17:47). Iosafat și cântăreții mergeau cântând prin Pustia Tecoa, cetatea lui Amos. Dumnezeu a semănat confuzie între ei și cele trei armate s-au omorât între ele. Armata lui Iosafat a luat pradă de război și s-au întors în Ierusalim plini de bucurie și cântând (v. 28). Victoria aceasta a fost câștigată printr-o minune făcută de Dumnezeu. Această minune se obține întotdeauna prin credință. Minunea aceasta o așteaptă bolnavul, încercatul și nenorocitul. Să ne rugăm Dumnezeului nostru PreaÎnalt să Își întindă mâna și să ne asculte, făcând ,,minuni şi semne prin Numele Robului Tău celui sfânt, Isus.” (Faptele Apostolilor 5:12)

Soluția noastră este ascunsă în mâna lui Dumnezeu, iar El, în bunătatea Sa, ne ascultă prin minuni.

Thursday, January 25, 2024: 2 Chronicles 20:1-37 – Jehoshaphat's Victory over the Moabites and Ammonites

Jehoshaphat was 35 years old when he became king and he reigned for 25 years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Azubah. The chronicler notes that Jehoshaphat walked in the good ways of his father, Asa. A coalition formed of Ammonites, Moabites, and Meunites attacked Jerusalem. The Meunites were the Edomites from Mount Seir (1 Chronicles 4:41). King Jehoshaphat proclaimed a national fast and urged the people to seek the Lord's face. He himself prayed, praising God for His power, grace, and His holy dwelling (v. 6-13).

The Lord responded with compassion, inspiring the Levite Jahaziel to encourage the people. Twice he said, “Do not be afraid or dismayed” (v. 15, 17). God assured them that this battle was not theirs, but His, similar to the situation with the giant Goliath (1 Samuel 17:47). Jehoshaphat and the singers went singing through the Desert of Tekoa, the city of Amos. God sowed confusion among them and the three armies killed each other. Jehoshaphat's army took spoils of war and returned to Jerusalem full of joy and singing (v. 28). This victory was won through a miracle of God. Such miracles are always obtained through faith. This miracle awaited the sick, the tried, and the unfortunate. Let us pray to our Most High God to stretch out His hand and hear us, performing “miracles and signs in the name of Your holy servant Jesus.” (Acts of the Apostles 5:12)

Our solution is hidden in the hand of God, and He, in His kindness, hears us through miracles.
