Miercuri, 24 ianuarie 2024: 2 Cronici 19:1-11 – Iosafat numește judecători în țară

Iosafat a scăpat cu viață și Dumnezeu l-a ajutat să ajungă cu bine acasă. La intrarea în Ierusalim l-a întâmpinat profetul Iehu, fiul lui Hanaini, și l-a mustrat pentru alianța nepotrivită cu Ahab. Totuși, profetul l-a lăudat pentru că Îl iubea pe Dumnezeu și pentru că a îndepărtat păgânismul din țară.

În intenția de a îndemna poporul să se apropie de Dumnezeu, regele Iosafat a călătorit prin toate cetățile din țară, îndrumând poporul să se apropie de Domnul. De asemenea, el a pus judecători în toate cetățile și le-a cerut să judece cu responsabilitate și curăție de inimă (Deuteronom 16:18-20).

În Ierusalim a instituit un fel de Curte Supremă care judeca toate cazurile trimise din teritoriu. De problemele cu caracter religios se ocupa marele preot Amaria, iar de problemele civile se ocupa Zebadia. Tribunalul de la Ierusalim era format din preoți, judecători, leviți și capi de familii. Leviții aveau sarcina să aplice deciziile luate de judecătorii care erau implicați în acest proiect.

Este impresionant să observăm faptul că oamenii din toate timpurile au fost preocupați de dreptate. Astăzi ne vom ruga pentru conducători intregri și pentru judecători cinstiți.

Wednesday, January 24, 2024: 2 Chronicles 19:1-11 – Jehoshaphat Appoints Judges in the Land

Jehoshaphat survived and God helped him to return home safely. Upon entering Jerusalem, he was met by the prophet Jehu, the son of Hanani, who rebuked him for his unsuitable alliance with Ahab. However, the prophet praised him for his love of God and for removing paganism from the land.

With the intention of encouraging the people to draw closer to God, King Jehoshaphat traveled throughout all the cities of the land, guiding the people to draw near to the Lord. He also appointed judges in all the cities and asked them to judge with responsibility and purity of heart (Deuteronomy 16:18-20).

In Jerusalem, he established a kind of Supreme Court that judged all cases sent from the territory. The high priest Amariah dealt with religious matters, while Zebadiah dealt with civil issues. The tribunal in Jerusalem was made up of priests, judges, Levites, and heads of families. The Levites had the task of implementing the decisions made by the judges involved in this project.

It is impressive to observe that at all times in history, people have been concerned with justice. Today we will pray for upright leaders and honest judges.
