Vineri, 24 februarie 2023, Exodul 2:1-25 – Nașterea, creșterea și formarea lui Moise

            Soții Amram și Iochebed au avut trei copii: Maria (15:20), Aaron (6:20) și Moise (7:7). Moise, care era cu 3 ani mai mic decât fratele său, Aaron, s-a născut, cel mai probabil, în anul 1526 î.Cr., la începutul domniei lui Tutmos I. În ciuda decretului lui Faraon, Iochebed l-a născut pe Moise și l-au ascuns  (Fapte 7:17-20). Nu părinții i-au pus copilului numele Moise, ci fata lui Faraon care l-a găsit pus într-un sicriaș pe Nil (2:5-6, 10). În felul acesta, Moise a devenit membru al casei regale, a locuit 40 de ani (Fapte 7:23) ca prinț la palatul lui Faron (v. 10). În felul acesta, Moise a devenit un bărbat educat în știința egipteană, vorbind fluent limba egipteană și ebraică.

            Providența lui Dumnezeu este evidentă în viața lui Moise prin faptul că i-a purtat de grijă în condiții limită. Fiind martor la un conflict dintre un evreu și un egiptean, Moise l-a apărat pe evreu și l-a ucis pe egiptean. Vestea despre crima lui Moise a ajuns la urechile lui Faraon. Moise a fugit în pustiul Madian ca să-și scape viața (2:15). Ajuns aici a locuit printre madianiți, popor întemeiat de Madian, fiul Cheturei și al lui Avraam. Patriarhul i-a trimis atunci, cu aproximativ 450 de ani în urmă, să locuiască în țara Răsăritului (Geneza 25:1-6).

            Aici, Moise s-a căsătorit cu Sefora, fiica lui Reuel/Ietro, preotul Madianului (3:1; 18:1). Primul lor fiu a fost Ghersom, care înseamnă ,,locuitor într-o țară străină”. Așa a început cea de-a doua perioadă de 40 de ani din viața lui Moise (Fapte 7:30). Dacă în primii 40 de ani a fost prinț la palat, în următorii 40 de ani a fost păstor în pustie. Fiecare perioadă de 40 de ani a contribuit specific la instruirea și dezvoltarea bărbatului care urma să scoată robii evrei din prizonieratul egiptean. Dacă ar fi știut fiica lui Faraon cu mai bine de 40 de ani în urmă că bebelușul pe care l-a salvat din apele Nilului urma să devină eliberatorul celor două milioane de evrei exploatați în mod nemilos și inuman de guvernul egiptean!

            Este dimineață și vom mulțumi lui Dumnezeu că este prezent în toate perioadele vieții noastre, folosindu-le pe toate pentru formarea și maturizarea noastră. Vom continua rugăciunea cerând de la Dumnezeu protecție supranaturală peste situațiile limită din viața noastră și a membrilor familiilor noastre.

Friday, February 24, 2023: Exodus 2: 1-25 – The Birth, Growth, and Development of Moses

The spouses Amram and Jochebed had three children: Miriam (Exodus 15:20), Aaron (Exodus 6:20), and Moses (Exodus 7:7). Moses, who was three years younger than his brother Aaron, was most likely born in the year 1526 BC, at the beginning of the reign of Thutmose I. Despite Pharaoh’s decree, Jochebed gave birth to Moses and hid him (Acts 7:17-20). Moses was not named by his parents, but by Pharaoh’s daughter who found him in a basket on the Nile (2:5-6, 10). In this way, Moses became a member of the royal household and lived for 40 years (Acts 7:23) as a prince in Pharaoh’s palace (v. 10). And so, Moses became a man educated in Egyptian science, speaking both Egyptian and Hebrew fluently.

God’s providence is evident in Moses’ life in that He took care of him despite limiting conditions. Witnessing a conflict between a Hebrew and an Egyptian, Moses defended the Hebrew and killed the Egyptian. News of Moses’ crime reached Pharaoh’s ears. Moses fled to the Midian wilderness to save his own life (2:15). Once there, he lived among the Midianites, a people founded by Midian, the son of Keturah and Abraham. The patriarch had sent him, approximately 450 years earlier, to live in the land of the East (Genesis 25:1-6).

Here, Moses married Zipporah, the daughter of Reuel/Jethro, the priest of Midian (3:1; 18:1). Their first son was Gershom, which means “sojourner in a foreign land.” Thus began the second period of 40 years in Moses’ life (Acts 7:30). If in the first 40 years he was a prince in the palace, in the next 40 years he was a shepherd in the wilderness. Each 40-year period contributed specifically to the training and development of the man who was to bring the Hebrew slaves out of Egyptian captivity. If only Pharaoh’s daughter had known more than 40 years prior that the baby she saved from the waters of the Nile would become the liberator of the two million Jews brutally and inhumanly exploited by the Egyptian government!

It is morning and we want to thank God for being present in all stages of our lives, using them all for our development and progress. We will continue to pray, asking God for supernatural protection over the limiting situations in our lives and those of our family members.
