Marți, 22 octombrie 2024, Proverbele 26:1-28

Capitolul 26 are câteva teme principale:

1.     Despre nebunie (vers. 1-12)

2.     Despre lenevie (vers. 13-16)

3.     Despre nebunie, cleveteală și minciună (vers. 17-28)

Cartea Proverbele are multe de spus despre nebuni:

–     Ei disprețuiesc înțelepciunea (Proverbe 1:7, 22, 10:21, 23:9).

–     Se văd corecți și de partea adevărului (Proverbe 12:15).

–     Sunt înșelători (Proverbe 14:8).

–     Ei sunt batjocoritori (Proverbe 10:23, 14:9).

Versete 4-5 sunt într-o aparentă contradicție, însă aceasta este o formă comună de paralelism întâlnită în Vechiul Testament, în care a doua idee se construiește, suprapunându-se  pe prima. Versetul 4 ne avertizează să nu ne certăm cu un nebun în termenii lui, ca nu cumva să ne coborâm la nivelul lui.

Pe de altă parte, sintagma ,,după nebunia lui” din versetul 5 ne spune că există momente în care un nebun trebuie să fie confruntat pentru ca nebunia lui să fie expusă, mustrându-l pe baza nebuniei lui, astfel încât să vadă prostia raționamentelor sale. Chiar dacă va continua să respingă mustrarea, noi va trebuie să-l confruntăm atât de dragul adevărului, cât și de dragul celor care ascultă.

În concluzie, depinde de fiecare situație în parte dacă alegem să folosim principiul din versetul 4, ignorându-l pe omul nebun, sau să respectăm versetul 5, mustrându-l pe nebun.

Ne vom ruga acum pentru înțelepciune, discernământ și călăuzire.

Tuesday, October 22, 2024 – Proverbs 26:1-28

Chapter 26 has a few main themes:

1. foolishness (verses 1-12)
2. laziness (verses 13-16)
3. foolishness, gossip, and lies (verses 17-28)

The book of Proverbs has much to say about fools:

• They despise wisdom (Proverbs 1:7, 22, 10:21, 23:9).
• They see themselves as correct and on the side of truth (Proverbs 12:15).
• They are deceitful (Proverbs 14:8).
• They are mockers (Proverbs 10:23, 14:9).

Verses 4-5 seem to be in apparent contradiction, but this is a common form of parallelism found in the Old Testament, where the second idea builds upon and overlaps the first. Verse 4 warns us not to argue with a fool on their terms, so as not to lower ourselves to their level.

On the other hand, the phrase “according to his folly” in verse 5 tells us that there are moments when a fool must be confronted to expose their foolishness, correcting them based on their own folly, so they can see the foolishness of their reasoning. Even if they continue to reject the correction, we must confront them for the sake of truth and for the sake of those who listen.

In conclusion, it depends on each situation whether we choose to apply the principle from verse 4, ignoring the foolish person, or to follow verse 5, rebuking the fool.

Let us now pray for wisdom, discernment, and guidance.
