Sâmbătă, 22 iulie 2023, Iosua 14:1-15 – Împărțirea țării de la apus la Iordan

Înainte de tragerea la sorți pentru împărțirea teritoriilor în Țara Promisă, bătrânul Caleb i-a amintit lui Iosua despre promisiunea lui Dumnezeu făcută cu 45 de ani în urmă: ,,o voi da lui și copiilor lui pentru că a urmat în totul calea Domnului” (Deuteronom 1:36). Bătrânul Caleb i-a amintit generalului Iosua că ei au fost singurii spioni dintre cei 12 care nu au înnegrit țara și nu au descurajat poporul; dimpotrivă, au vorbit de bine țara și au încurajat poporul Domnului. Caleb nu a fost condus de mulțime și nici de frică, ci de Duhul Domnului. El a avut încredere în prezența și în puterea lui Dumnezeu. Având vârsta de 85 de ani și fiind în Canaan, Caleb nu a cerut un loc liniștit unde să-și petreacă ultimii ani de viață, ci a cerut Hebronul, ținutul cel mai greu de cucerit – ,,Domnul va fi, poate, cu mine, și-i voi izgoni, cum a spus Domnul” (Iosua 15:12-19).

Acest ținut se numise Chriat-Arba. Arba fusese neamul de uriași de care s-au îngrozit cele 10 iscoade cu 45 de ani înainte. Caleb mai avea un lucru de terminat: să elimine neamul de uriași din Canaan. Iosua i-a dat Hebronul, binecuvântându-L în numele Domnului. Este fascinant să vezi cum după 45 de ani omul acesta a fost răsplătit de Dumnezeu pentru credincioșia lui! Ce bine este să investești cu Dumnezeu! Cu Dumnezeu nu pierzi niciodată!

Este timpul să mulțumim Domnului pentru promisiunile Sale și pentru credincioșia Sa. Apoi ne vom ruga Domnului să ne dea putere și călăuzire pentru a fi roditori în lucrarea la care ne-a chemat Stăpânul. Astăzi, mâine, peste 45 de ani sau în veșnicie, răsplata Domnului va fi partea noastră de moștenire!

Saturday, July 22, 2023: Joshua 14:1-15 – The Division of the Land West of Jordan

Before the drawing of lots for the division of territories in the Promised Land, the elder Caleb reminded Joshua of God's promise made 45 years prior: “I will give him and his descendants the land he set his feet on, because he followed the Lord wholeheartedly” (Deuteronomy 1:36). The elder Caleb reminded General Joshua that they were the only spies among the twelve who did not tarnish the land and did not discourage the people; on the contrary, they spoke well of the land and encouraged the Lord's people. Caleb was not led by the crowd or by fear, but by the Spirit of the Lord. He had confidence in the presence and power of God. Being 85 years old and in Canaan, Caleb did not ask for a quiet place to spend his last years of life, but asked for Hebron, the hardest land to conquer – “but, the Lord helping me, I will drive them out just as he said” (Joshua 15:12-19).

This land was called Kiriath Arba. Arba had been the race of giants that the 10 scouts had been terrified of 45 years ago. Caleb had one more thing to finish: to eliminate the race of giants from Canaan. Joshua gave him Hebron, blessing him in the name of the Lord. It's fascinating to see how after 45 years this man was rewarded by God for his faithfulness! How good it is to invest with God! With God, you never lose!

It's time to thank the Lord for His promises and His faithfulness. We will also pray to the Lord to give us strength and guidance to be fruitful in the work to which the Master has called us. Today, tomorrow, 45 years from now or in eternity, the Lord's reward will be our inheritance!
