Vineri, 21 iulie 2023, Iosua 13:1-33 – Împărțirea Canaanului

Capitolele 13-24 din cartea Iosua prezintă împărțirea Canaanului între cele 12 seminții ale poporului Israel. Domnul l-a învățat pe Moise că fiecare seminție trebuie să primească un teritoriu proporțional cu populația, folosind metoda tragerii la sorți (Numeri 26:54-56).

Misiunea lui Iosua a fost să cucerească Canaanul și să-l împartă celor 12 seminții. Teritoriul bogat în pășuni din Transiordania a fost împărțit semințiilor lui Ruben, Gad și jumătate din Manase. Acest teritoriu care se afla la nord-est de Marea Galileei fusese locuit de Ghesuriți și Maacatiți.

Seminția Levi nu a primit un teritoriu asemenea celorlalte seminții, ci lor le-au fost date 48 de cetăți cu zonele înconjurătoare pentru cirezile și turmele lor. Seminția Ruben a primit ținutul ocupat de Moab, la est de Marea Moartă. Seminția Gad a primit ținutul Galaadului. Cealaltă jumătate a seminției Manase a primit Basanul, o regiune fertilă din estul Mării Galileei.

Teritoriile din Transiordania primite de semințiile Ruben, Gad și jumătate din Manase, neavând granițe naturale, au fost invadate permanent de triburile din Canaan. De cealaltă parte, seminția Levi nu a primit un teritoriu asemenea celorlalte seminții, însă avea preoția și dreptul la o parte din jertfe și daruri. Domnul era partea lor de moștenire.

Este timpul rugăciunii și vom începe cu rugăciunea de mulțumire. Vom mulțumi lui Dumnezeu pentru lucrurile materiale de care ne-a făcut parte. Având un corp fizic, vom avea în fiecare zi din viața noastră nevoie de hrană și lucruri necesare existenței, însă acum ne vom ruga să primim de la Dumnezeu înțelepciune și echilibru de a nu face o prioritate din lucrurile materiale. ,,Căutați mai întâi Împărăția lui Dumnezeu și neprihănirea Lui, și toate aceste lucruri vi se vor da pe deasupra” (Matei 6:33).

Friday, July 21, 2023: Joshua 13:1-33 – The Division of Canaan

Chapters 13-24 of the book of Joshua present the division of Canaan among the 12 tribes of the people of Israel. The Lord taught Moses that each tribe should receive territory proportional to the population, using the method of drawing lots (Numbers 26:54-56).

Joshua's mission was to conquer Canaan and divide it among the 12 tribes. The pasture-rich territory of Transjordan was divided among the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half of Manasseh. This territory, located northeast of the Sea of Galilee, was inhabited by the Geshurites and Maacathites.

The tribe of Levi did not receive territory like the other tribes, but they were given 48 cities with surrounding areas for their flocks and herds. The tribe of Reuben received the land occupied by Moab, east of the Dead Sea. The tribe of Gad received the land of Gilead. The other half of the tribe of Manasseh received Bashan, a fertile region east of the Sea of Galilee.

The territories in Transjordan received by the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half of Manasseh, having no natural borders, were constantly invaded by the tribes of Canaan. On the other hand, the tribe of Levi did not receive a territory like the other tribes, but they had the priesthood and the right to a portion of the sacrifices and gifts. The Lord was their inheritance.

It is time for prayer, and we will begin with a prayer of thanksgiving. We will thank God for the material things He has given us. Since we have a physical body, we need food and necessities every day of our lives; but now we will pray to receive wisdom and balance from God to not prioritize material things. “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” (Matthew 6:33).
