Joi, 21 decembrie 2023, 1 Cronici 14:1-17 – Așezarea lui David la Ierusalim

După ce a domnit timp de șapte ani și jumătate la Hebron, David s-a hotărât să înființeze o nouă capitală unde avea să domnească pentru următorii 33 de ani. David a demonstrat o înțelepciune politică remarcabilă, alegând drept capitală o cetate care nu aparținuse până atunci nici unei seminții, deci acceptabilă pentru toți. El a cucerit de la iebusiți Ierusalimului, care se afla la hotarul dintre Iuda și Beniamin, și a așezat centrul politic și religios al țării într-un oraș central, dar totuși în afara drumurilor principale. De atunci, Ierusalimul avea să fie pentru totdeauna o cetate importantă și avea să joace un rol unic în istoria lumii.

Regii altor națiuni i-au căutat prietenia, trimițându-i daruri:

1) Regele din Hamad i-a trimis daruri (2 Samuel 8:9-10);

2) Regele fenician al Tirului a semnat tratat de pace cu David (2 Samuel 5:11).

Înțelegând că Domnul îl ridică într-o poziție înaltă, David, având relații de prietenie cu regele fenician Hiram, i-a cerut meșteri și materiale pentru construcția casei sale (v. 1-2). Un rege puternic avea o casă mare, un harem mare și o armată mare.

Deși Dumnezeu a interzis poligamia (Deuteronom 17:17), David a acceptat stilul de viață din generația sa și a avut 8 soții:

1)      Mical, a doua fiică a regelui Saul;

2)      Ahinoam din Izreel;

3)      Abigaíl, fosta soție a lui Nabal;

4)      Mahaha, fiica lui Talmai, regele Gesurului;

5)      Hagita;

6)      Abital;

7)      Eglah;

8)      Bat-Șeba, fosta soție a lui Urie Hititul.

Filistenii au vrut să-l elimine pe David și au atacat Israelul în Valea Refaimiților, la câțiva kilometri de Ierusalim. Au fost învinși de două ori și faima lui David a crescut inspirând teamă și respect.

Îi vom mulțumi lui Dumnezeu pentru că investește în oameni, le ascultă rugaciunile, le împlinește nevoile și îi binecuvântează. De asemenea, ne vom ruga pentru înțelepciunea de a fi recunoscători și mulțumitori lui Dumnezeu pentru tot binele de care ne face parte – pentru binecuvântări, pentru succes, pentru protecție. Slavă lui Dumnezeu pentru bunătatea Sa!

Thursday, December 21, 2023: 1 Chronicles 14:1-17 – David's Establishment in Jerusalem

After reigning for seven and a half years in Hebron, David decided to establish a new capital where he would reign for the next 33 years. David demonstrated remarkable political wisdom by choosing as the capital a city that had not belonged to any tribe until then, making it acceptable to all. He conquered Jerusalem from the Jebusites, located on the border between Judah and Benjamin, and established the political and religious center of the country in a central city, but away from the main roads. From then on, Jerusalem would forever be an important city and play a unique role in world history.

Kings of other nations sought his friendship, sending him gifts:

1)    The king of Hamath sent him gifts (2 Samuel 8:9-10);

2)    The Phoenician king of Tyre signed a peace treaty with David (2 Samuel 5:11).

Understanding that the Lord was raising him to a high position, David, having friendly relations with the Phoenician king Hiram, asked him for craftsmen and materials to build his house (v. 1-2). A strong king had a large house, a large harem, and a large army.

Although God prohibited polygamy (Deuteronomy 17:17), David accepted the lifestyle of his generation and had 8 wives:

1)    Michal, the second daughter of King Saul;

2)    Ahinoam of Jezreel;

3)    Abigail, the former wife of Nabal;

4)    Maacah, the daughter of Talmai, king of Geshur;

5)    Haggith;

6)    Abital;

7)    Eglah;

8)    Bathsheba, the former wife of Uriah the Hittite.

The Philistines wanted to eliminate David and attacked Israel in the Valley of Rephaim, a few kilometers from Jerusalem. They were defeated twice, and David's fame grew, inspiring fear and respect.

We will thank God for investing in people, listening to their prayers, fulfilling their needs, and blessing them. In addition, we will pray for the wisdom to be grateful and thankful to God for all the good He bestows upon us – for blessings, success, protection. Glory to God for His kindness!
