Marți, 19 septembrie 2023, 1 Samuel 23:1-29 – David urmărit și salvat

În timp ce fugea de Saul, David a trebuit să se lupte și împotriva filistenilor, eliberând cetatea Cheila. Saul a aflat că David a scăpat Cheila și, chiar dacă este greu de crezut, a mobilizat armata ca să-l prindă și să-l omoare. Nu a mobilizat armata pentru a scăpa țara de filisteni, ci pentru a-l omorî pe David care se lupta împotriva filistenilor. Lui Saul nu i-a păsat de popor, ci doar îl exploata ori de câte ori avea nevoie.

Un lucru greu de înțeles este solidaritatea unui număr mare de oameni cu Saul. Nu vedeau ei paranoia și viclenia lui Saul? Nu vedeau ei obsesia acestuia pentru tron? Nu vedeau ei metodele murdare pe care le folosea? De partea cealaltă, nu vedeau ei intenția lui David? Vitejia, faptele și rezultatele conducerii lui David? David s-a ascuns de Saul în pustia Maon și apoi în En-Ghedi, o oază situată lângă Marea Moartă, la aproximativ 15 km de Masada.

Fiind timpul rugăciunii, vom mulțumi lui Dumnezeu că pentru fiecare încercare din viața noastră are o soluție. Chiar dacă uneori trebuie să stăm în pustie, experiențele acestea ne vor duce mai aproape de Dumnezeu și mai departe de dușman. Continuând rugăciunea, vom cere Domnului discernământ pentru a evalua situațiile în care ne aflăm. Uneori ne vom afla în situații în care adevărul va fi greu de identificat. În astfel de situații trebuie să fim vigilenți și înțelepți, folosind principii universal valabile:

1.     Nu vom accepta ce se spune în absența dovezilor.

2.     Nu vom purta războaiele nimănui, ci vom purta ,,războiul” Domnului. Războiul Domnului este întotdeauna pacea, unitatea și buna mărturie a Bisericii.

3.     Ne vom ruga, vom posti și vom aștepta călăuzirea lui Dumnezeu.

4.     Vom rămâne lângă împărat și lângă preoți. Dacă trebuie să fim de partea cuiva, trebuie să fim de partea slujitorilor Bisericii.

While fleeing from Saul, David also had to battle the Philistines, liberating the city of Keilah. Saul heard that David had saved Keilah, and astonishingly, he mobilized the army not to free the country from the Philistines but to capture and kill David who was fighting against the Philistines. Saul didn't care for the people; he merely exploited them whenever he needed.

What is difficult to understand is the solidarity of a significant number of people with Saul. Couldn't they see Saul's paranoia and wickedness? Could they not recognize his obsession with the throne? Weren't they aware of the dirty tactics he employed? On the other hand, didn't they perceive David's intentions? His valor, deeds, and the results of his leadership? David hid from Saul in the wilderness of Maon and later in En-Gedi, an oasis located near the Dead Sea, about 15 km from Masada.

It is time for prayer and we will thank God that for every trial in our life, He has a solution. Even if sometimes we must stand in the wilderness, these experiences bring us closer to God and further away from the enemy. Continuing our prayer, we will ask the Lord for discernment in evaluating our situations. At times, we will find ourselves in circumstances where the truth might be challenging to identify. In such situations, we need to be vigilant and wise, following universally applicable principles:

1.     We will not accept claims without evidence.

2.     We won't fight anyone else's battles; instead, we will fight the “battle” of the Lord. The Lord's battle always emphasizes peace, unity, and the good testimony of the Church.

3.     We will pray, fast, and await God's guidance.

4.     We will stand by the king and the priests. If we must side with someone, it should be with the servants of the Church.
