Joi, 19 octombrie 2023, 2 Samuel 22:1-51 – Cântarea de laudă a lui David

Un mod de a sărbători victoriile și de a le comemora în anii viitori era de a compune și interpreta cântări de biruință. Primele versete îl prezintă pe Dumnezeu: ,,stânca, cetățuia, izbăvitorul, scutul, adăpostul…” Apoi, David folosește metafora pentru a încerca să surprindă groaza anumitor experiențe prin care a trecut, ,,atingându-se” de moarte: ,,Valurile morții” (vers. 5), ,,legăturile mormântului” (vers. 6). Moartea, mormântul reprezintă capătul drumului, însă Dumnezeu a intervenit și l-a scăpat pe David.

Ca o asumare a responsabilității înaintea lui Dumnezeu, David folosește cuvinte care definesc sfințirea și slujirea: ,,nevinovăția mea” (vers. 21), ,,Am păzit căile Lui” (vers. 22)… David încheie revenind la atributele lui Dumnezeu: ,,scut, pavăză, stâncă, cetățuie…” Muzica are puterea de a ne atinge sufletul și de a ne impresiona așa cum alte forme de comunicare nu reușesc.

Începem rugăciunea amintindu-ne de cine este Dumnezeu pentru noi. În trecutul nostru sunt urmele pașilor lui Dumnezeu. El nu doar a fost, El este și va fi prezent în fiecare zi a vieții noastre. Apoi ne vom ruga Domnului să ne dea resursele necesare pentru a ne sfinți viețile și pentru a-i sluji pe oameni. Acesta este obiectivul vieții noastre!

Thursday, October 19,  2023: 2 Samuel 22:1-51 – David's Song of Praise

A way to celebrate victories and commemorate them for the future was to compose and perform songs of triumph. The initial verses present God as the “rock, fortress, savior, shield, refuge…” Then, David uses metaphors trying to capture the terror of certain experiences he went through, “touching” death: “The waves of death” (verse 5), “the cords of the grave” (verse 6). Death and the grave signify the end of the journey, but God intervened and saved David.

As an acceptance of responsibility before God, David uses words that define sanctification and service: “my innocence” (verse 21), “I have kept His ways” (verse 22)… David concludes by returning to the attributes of God: “shield, bulwark, rock, fortress…” Music has the power to touch our souls and impress us in ways that other forms of communication cannot.

We begin our prayer by reminding ourselves of who God is for us. In our past are the traces of God's footsteps. He was not just there in the past; He is, and will be, present every day of our lives. We will then pray to the Lord to give us the necessary resources to sanctify our lives and to serve people. This is the purpose of our life!
