Duminică, 19 februarie 2023, Geneza 47:1-31 – Familia lui Iacov se mută în Egipt

            Iacov s-a mutat în Egipt la vârsta de 130 de ani, când Iosif avea vârsta de 39 de ani. Iacov a mai trăit încă 17 ani și a murit în Egipt. Avraam a murit la vârsta de 175 de ani, iar Isaac la 180. Faraon a dat familiei lui Iacov cea mai bună parte a țării, ținutul Gosen. Mai mult de-atât, câțiva dintre frații lui Iosif au ajuns administratori ai turmelor lui Faraon (47:6).

            Iosif s-a dovedit a fi un excelent administrator și țara a supraviețuit secetei foarte severe. Simțind că i se apropie sfârșitul, Iacov l-a pus pe Iosif să jure că-l va îngropa în mormântul părinților lui (49:29-33). Avraam și Isaac erau îngropați în peștera Macpela pe care Avraam a cumpărat-o de la fiii lui Het.

            În această dimineață vom mulțumi lui Dumnezeu pentru unitatea familiilor noastre. Apoi ne vom ruga cerând Domnului unitate și solidaritate pentru familiile noastre.

Sunday, February 19, 2023: Genesis 47:1-31 – Jacob’s Family Moves to Egypt

            When he moved to Egypt, Jacob was 130 years old, and Joseph was 39 years old. Jacob lived another 17 years and died in Egypt. Abraham died at the age of 175, and Isaac at the age of 180. Pharaoh gave Jacob’s family the best portion of the land, the Goshen territory. More so than this, a few of Joseph’s brothers also ended up administrators over Pharaoh’s livestock (47:6).

            Joseph proved to be an excellent administrator and the country survived a severe famine. As he felt that his time was nearing its end, Jacob made Joseph swear that he would bury him with his forefathers (49:29-22). Abraham and Isaac were buried in the cave in the field at Machpelah which Abraham had bought from the Hittites.

            This morning we will thank the lord for the unity we already have in our families. Then we will ask the Lord for continuing unity and solidarity in our families.
