Sâmbătă, 18 februarie 2023, Geneza 46:1-34 – Mutarea familiei lui Iacov în Egipt

La invitația lui Iosif și a lui Faraon, Iacov cu cei 66 de membri ai familiei lui au plecat în Egipt și s-au așezat în Gosen, cea mai bună regiune a țării. În versetul 26 se spune că au fost 66 de persoane, însă în versetul 27 se spune că au fost 70. Primul număr se referă la cei care au plecat cu Iacov în Egipt. Decizia lui Faraon de a invita familia lui Iacov să se mute în Egipt exprimă valoarea pe care o avea Iosif în ochii lui. Avraam, bunicul lui Iacov, s-a mutat temporar în Egipt din cauza foametei. Acum Iacov se mută în Egipt din același motiv. În drumul spre Egipt, prima oprire a fost la Beer Șeba, unde patriarhul Iacov a adus o jertfa lui Dumnezeu. Aici a avut Iacov o vedenie și Dumnezeu a repetat promisiunea că va ajunge un neam mare în Egipt, însă El îl va scoate de acolo. Cu zeci de ani în urma aici a locuit Isaac și de aici a plecat Iacov, fugind de mânia fratelui său, Esau (28:10).

În această dimineață vom mulțumi lui Dumnezeu pentru că Se îngrijește de copiii Săi în orice împrejurare. Continuând rugăciunea, vom cere Părintelui ceresc protecție peste familiile noastre extinse.

Saturday, February 18, 2023: Genesis 46:1-34 – Jacob’s Family Moves to Egypt

            At the invitation of Joseph and Pharaoh, Jacob and his 66 family members moved to Egypt and settled in Goshen, the best region of the country. In verse 26 it says there were 66 people, but in verse 27 it says there were 70. The first number refers to those who left with Jacob when he moved to Egypt. The second number includes the children and grandchildren already living in Egypt (Joseph and his family).

Pharaoh’s decision to invite Jacob’s family to move to Egypt expresses the value that Joseph had in his eyes. Abraham, Jacob’s grandfather, temporarily moved to Egypt because of famine. Now Jacob moves to Egypt for the same reason. On the way to Egypt, the first stop was at Beersheba, where the patriarch Jacob had brought a sacrifice to God. Here Jacob had a vision and God repeated the promise that a great nation would arise in Egypt, but He would bring them out of there. Isaac had lived there decades prior, and Jacob fled from his brother Esau’s anger from there (28:10) .

This morning we will thank God for taking care of His children in all circumstances. Continuing in prayer, we will ask our Heavenly Father to protect our extended families.
