Vineri, 17 februarie 2023, Geneza 45:1-27 – Iosif își dezvăluie identitatea

Fiind profund emoționat în fața manifestării de responsabilitate și demnitate a fratelui său, Iuda, Iosif îi scoate afară pe toți egiptenii și își dezvăluie identitatea. Pentru a cincea oară, Iosif plânge pentru frații lui (42:44; 43:20; 45:14; 50:17; 50:1). Frații lui s-au îngrozit și au crezut că Iosif se va răzbuna și îi va omorî (v. 5). Explicația cu care Iosif îi întâmpină pe frații lui este dovada măreției caracterului său: ,,Dumnezeu m-a trimis înaintea voastră ca să vă rămână sămânţa vie în ţară şi ca să vă păstreze viaţa printr-o mare izbăvire. Aşa că nu voi m-aţi trimis aici, ci Dumnezeu; El m-a făcut ca un tată al lui Faraon, stăpân peste toată casa lui şi cârmuitorul întregii ţări a Egiptului” (v. 7-8).

Ce perspectivă! Fără această perspectivă nici nu i-ar fi putut ierta! Aceasta este perspectiva credinței! Omul spiritual va vedea mâna lui Dumnezeu prezentă în toate experiențele vieții, drept pentru care va fi în stare să-i ierte pe cei care i-au făcut rău. Resentimentele s-au topit în prezența iertării și a iubirii. Armonia celor 66 de membri ai familiei lui Iacov a atârnat de atitudinea iertătoare a lui Iosif (46:26).

Pentru că oamenii sunt imperfecți, este nevoie de iertare. În orice familie sau comunitate, iertarea este singura metodă care restaurează relațiile. Bisericile sunt pline de oameni iertați, însă sunt aproape goale de oameni iertători.

Un tată care și-a plâns fiul mort aproximativ 15 ani are nevoie de dovezi serioase pentru a accepta că trăiește. Așa a fost Iacov când fiii lui s-au întors acasă și i-au spus că Iosif trăiește. Biblia menționează că ,,inima lui Iacov a rămas rece pentru că nu-i credea” (v. 26). Prima oară nu a crezut că a murit, iar acum nu crede că este viu. Până la urmă, forța argumentelor a învins. ,,Când a văzut… carele pe care le trimisese Iosif… duhul tatălui lor, Iacov, s-a înviorat” (v. 27).

Începem ziua cu rugăciune, mulțumindu-I Domnului pentru că ne-a iertat de toate păcatele. Apoi, continuăm rugăciunea, cerând insistent Domnului puterea de a ierta, așa cum am fost iertați.

Friday, February 17, 2023: Genesis 45:1-27 – Joseph Reveals His Identity

            Deeply moved by the manifestation of responsibility and dignity of his brother Judah, Joseph sends all the Egyptians out of the room and reveals his identity. For the fifth time, Joseph weeps for his brothers (42:44; 43:20; 45:14; 50:17; 50:1). His brothers were terrified and believed that Joseph would seek revenge and kill them (v. 5). The explanation with which Joseph welcomes his brothers is proof of his great character: “God sent me ahead of you to keep you alive on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance. So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God. He made me father to Pharaoh, lord of his entire household and ruler of all Egypt” (v. 7-8).

What a perspective! Without this perspective, he could not have forgiven them! This is the perspective of faith! The spiritual person will see the hand of God present in all life’s experiences, which is why they will be able to forgive those who have wronged them. Resentment melted in the presence of forgiveness and love. The harmony of the 66 members of Jacob’s family depended on Joseph’s forgiving character (46:26).

Because people are imperfect, forgiveness is needed. In any family or community, forgiveness is the only method that restores relationships. Churches are full of forgiven people but are almost empty of forgiving people.

A father who wept for his dead son for approximately 15 years needs serious evidence to accept that he is alive. This was Jacob’s thought when his sons returned home and told him that Joseph was alive. The Bible mentions that “Jacob’s heart stood still, because he did not believe them” (v. 26). At first, he had not believed that Joseph had died, and now he did not believe that Joseph was alive. Eventually, the strength of the argument won. “When he saw… the chariots that Joseph had sent… Jacob’s spirit revived” (v. 27).

We begin the day with prayer, thanking the Lord for forgiving us of all our sins. Then, we continue our prayer, earnestly asking the Lord for the power to forgive, just as we have been forgiven.
