Duminică, 18 iunie 2023, Deuteronom 15:1-23 – Anul de iertare

Anul sabatic sau anul eliberării a fost poruncit în cărțile Exodul 23:10-11 și Leviticul 25:1-7. În al șaptelea an pământul trebuia lăsat nelucrat și datoriile trebuiau anulate (v. 1-2). Scopul legii anulării datoriilor era și acela de a stimula compasiunea și generozitatea israelienilor și de a-i feri în felul acesta de iubirea banilor și a bunurilor materiale (v. 1-6).

De asemenea, Moise a precizat faptul că israelienii trebuiau să-și exprime bunătatea față de cei lipsiți: ,,să-ți deschizi mâna” (v. 8, 11). Moise a mai precizat faptul că în al șaptelea an, angajatorul/stăpânul trebuia să-l elibereze pe slujitor/rob și să-i dea daruri din turme, grâne și vin, după binecuvântarea primită de la Domnul. Această poruncă avea rolul să le aducă aminte angajatorilor de harul primit de la Dumnezeu după ieșirea din Egipt unde au fost robi.

O nouă dimineață, o nouă ocazie să ne închinăm prin rugăciune. Vom mulțumi lui Dumnezeu pentru că am fost iertați de datoria noastră – o datorie care a fost așa de mare! Apoi vom continua rugăciunea cerând Domnului harul de a fi darnici, miloși și buni la suflet. Cu o astfel de atitudine ne-a tratat Dumnezeu când ne-a mântuit prin Cristos. Nu uitați, dragostea este cea mai mare poruncă!

Sunday, June 18, 2023: Deuteronomy 15:1-23 – The Year of Forgiveness

The Sabbath year or the year of rest was commanded in the books Exodus 23:10-11 and Leviticus 25:1-7. In the seventh year, the land was to be left untended and debts were to be canceled (v. 1-2). The purpose of the debt cancellation law was also to stimulate the compassion and generosity of the Israelites and thus to keep them from the love of money and material goods (v. 1-6).

In addition, Moses stated that the Israelites were to express kindness to the needy: “you shall open your hand” (v. 8, 11). Moses further stated that in the seventh year, the employer/master was to release the servant/slave and give him gifts from his own flocks, grains, and wine, according to the blessings he had received from the Lord. This commandment served to remind employers of the grace they received from God after leaving slavery in Egypt.

It is a new morning, a new opportunity to worship through prayer. We will thank God for forgiving us of our debt – a debt that was so enormous! Then we will continue our prayer asking the Lord for the grace to be generous, merciful, and kind-hearted. This is how God treated us when He saved us through Christ. Remember, love is the greatest commandment!
