Sâmbătă, 17 iunie 2023, Deuteronom 14:1-29 – Zeciuieli, alimente curate și necurate

Israel a fost un popor care s-a născut în sânul revelației, un popor dedicat lui Dumnezeu; de aceea, trebuia să fie un popor sfânt (7:6). Israel a trăit în mijlocul unor popoare care aveau tot felul de ritualuri la înmormântări (14:1). ,,Pentru morți să nu vă faceți tăieturi pe trupurile voastre, nici semne cu împunsături să nu faceți pe voi. Eu sunt Domnul Dumnezeul vostru” (Levitic 19:28).

Animalele au fost împărțite în trei grupe:

1)    Animale care trăiesc pe pământ – putea fi mâncat orice animal care rumega, care avea copita despicată și unghia despărțită în două.

2)    Animale care trăiesc în apă – puteau fi mâncate numai acelea care aveau înotătoare și solzi.

3)    Animale care trăiesc în aer (insecte și păsări) – nu puteau fi mâncate păsările de pradă și/sau cele care se hrănesc cu cadavre. Dintre insecte, doar lăcustele, greierii și cosașii erau curate. De asemenea, nu putea fi mâncate mortăciunile.

Dumnezeu a subliniat necesitatea zeciuielii, menționând că această practică va fi o dovadă că se tem totdeauna de Domnul. Inițial, Moise a spus că zeciuielile israelienilor trebuiau date leviților (Numeri 18:21-32). În Deuteronom, 18:1-8, Moise precizează faptul că leviții trebuiau să primească o porție din partea de jertfă oferită ca zeciuială, fiindcă lor nu li s-a alocat niciun teritoriu din țară după cucerire.

Suntem din nou în fața Domnului și vom mulțumi pentru harul nespus de a fi parte din familia lui Dumnezeu, copiii lui Dumnezeu. Vom continua rugăciunea pentru a cere de la Domnul devotament, integritate, echilibru și puterea de a ne sfinți.

Saturday, June 17, 2023: Deuteronomy 14:1-29 – Tithes, Clean & Unclean Foods

Israel was a nation born out of revelation, a nation dedicated to God; therefore, it had to be a holy nation (7:6). Israel lived among nations that had all sorts of burial rituals (14:1). “You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord your God” (Leviticus 19:28).

Animals were divided into three groups:

1)    Land animals – any animal that chewed cud and had a split hoof could be eaten.

2)    Water animals – only those with fins and scales could be eaten.

3)    Air animals (insects and birds) – birds of prey and/or those that feed on carcasses could not be eaten. Among insects, only locusts, crickets, and grasshoppers were clean. In addition, carcasses could not be eaten.

God emphasized the necessity of tithing, stating that this practice would always be proof that the Israelites feared the Lord. Initially, Moses said that the tithes of the Israelites had to be given to the Levites (Numbers 18:21-32). In Deuteronomy 18:1-8, Moses clarifies that the Levites had to receive a portion from the sacrificial part offered as a tithe, because they had not been allocated any territory in the country after the conquest.

We are before the Lord again and we will give thanks for the immense grace of being part of the family of God, the children of God. We will continue our prayer, asking the Lord for devotion, integrity, balance, and the power to sanctify ourselves.
