Vineri, 18 august 2023, Judecători 17:1-13 – Idolatria efraimitului Mica

Mica a fost un efraimit care a furat mamei sale 1100 sicli de argint. Ea l-a blestemat pe vinovat, fără să știe că este chiar fiul ei. Mai târziu, fiul ei și-a recunosc fapta și a restituit banii mamei lui. În încercarea de a neutraliza blestemul rostit asupra vinovatului, ea a rostit o binecuvântare pentru fiul ei și a construit un idol cu banii restituiți. Pentru ea a fost o dovadă de grijă maternă să-și binecuvânteze copilul și să-i facă un idol. Legea lui Dumnezeu interzice cu desăvârșire facerea idolilor (Exod 20:4). O intenție bună, însă o metodă greșită. Ignoranța conduce la fapte nesăbuite.

Mica mai avea în casă un efod și terafimi. El a sfințit pe unul dintre fiii săi ca preot și a transformat casa într-un centru de închinare apostat (un sanctuar de familie). Mai târziu, un tânăr levit din Betleemul lui Iuda s-a mutat în muntele lui Efraim. Mica l-a angajat să fie preot în centrul de închinare din casa lui și i-a fixat un salariu.

Este interesant faptul că oamenii au tendința conștientă sau inconștientă să se închine divinității. Închinarea idolatră însă Îl ofensează pe Dumnezeu. Iată cât de importantă este cunoașterea voii lui Dumnezeu din Scriptură. Biserica este singurul reprezentat al voii lui Dumnezeu pe pământ, de aceea responsabilitatea Bisericii de a-și asuma misiunea încredințată este absolut vitală. Ce va face lumea fără mesajul mântuirii predicat de Biserică? Va muri în păcat și va merge în iad. Cât de responsabilă va fi Biserica de această tragedie? Cât se poate de responsabilă.

Este timpul rugăciunii și vom mulțumi Domnului pentru că a risipit ignoranța din mințile noastre prin descoperirea voii Sale din Scripturi. Apoi vom continua să ne rugăm, cerând Domnului puterea de a ne feri de idolatrie, apostazie și secularizare. De asemenea, responsabili fiind de cunoașterea voii lui Dumnezeu, să răspândim cu pasiune oamenilor din jurul nostru mesajul împăcării din Scripturi.

Friday, August 18, 2023: Judges 17:1-13 – The Idolatry of Micah the Ephraimite

Micah was an Ephraimite who stole 1100 shekels of silver from his mother. She cursed the thief, unaware it was her own son. Later, her son admitted his wrongdoing and returned the money to her. Attempting to neutralize the curse she placed on the thief, she blessed her son and built an idol with the returned money. For her, it was an act of maternal care to bless her child and make an idol for him. God's law strictly prohibits the creation of idols (Exodus 20:4). A good intention, but a wrong method. Ignorance leads to foolish actions.

Micah also had an ephod and household gods in his house. He consecrated one of his sons as a priest, turning his home into a center of apostate worship (a family shrine). Later, a young Levite from Bethlehem in Judah moved to the Ephraimite hills. Micah hired him to be a priest at his home's worship center and set a salary for him.

It's interesting that people have a conscious or unconscious tendency to worship divinity. However, idolatrous worship offends God. This highlights the importance of knowing God's will from Scripture. The Church is the sole representative of God's will on earth, hence the Church's responsibility to undertake its entrusted mission is utterly vital. What will the world do without the salvation message preached by the Church? It will die in sin and go to hell. How responsible will the Church be for this tragedy? Completely responsible.

It is time for prayer, and we will thank the Lord for dispelling the ignorance in our minds through the revelation of His will in the Scriptures. We will then continue to pray, asking the Lord for the strength to avoid idolatry, apostasy, and secularization. Also, being responsible for knowing God's will, we should passionately spread the message of reconciliation from the Scriptures to those around us.
