Sâmbătă, 17 februarie 2024, Ezra 5:1-17 – Continuarea lucrărilor la Templu

Rezultatul opoziției din timpul domniei lui Cir a întârziat lucrarea de reconstruire a Templului până în anul al doilea al domniei lui Dariu (520 î. C.). Aceasta înseamnă că trecuseră 18 de ani de la întoarcerea poporului în țară sub Zorobabel.

Sub influența profeților Hagai și Zaharia, lucrările de reconstrucție de la Templu au fost reluate. Deși oamenii nu aveau pasiune pentru rezidirea Casei Domnului, profeții Hagai și Zaharia, alături de Isaia și Zorobabel au impulsionat poporul. În ciuda opoziției, lucrarea a fost dusă la bun sfârșit, însă Tatnai, dregătorul de dincoace de râu, a încercat să identifice persoanele care și-au permis să reia lucrările, trecând în felul acesta peste interdicția împăratului de a continua reconstrucția.

Zorobabel și Iosua au precizat că sunt slujitorii Dumnezeului cerului și al pământului, nu ai Persiei. Ei au explicat că un mare împărat evreu, Solomon, a construit primul Templu, însă din cauza păcatului evreilor, Dumnezeu i-a pedepsit pentru lipsa lor de loialitate.

Tatnai a sugerat împăratului să verifice dacă Cir, fostul împărat, a dat voie evreilor să reia construcția Templului. Șirul acesta nesfârșit de investigații demonstrează că Templul din Ierusalim s-a rezidit în ciuda împotrivirilor marilor împărați ai vremii.

Dincolo de orice autoritate omenească, Dumnezeu îi influențează pe oameni ca să împlinească planul Său. Această realitate are menirea să confirme faptul că Domnul este adevăratul Dumnezeu.

În această dimineață să ne închinăm în fața Dumnezeului cerului și al pământului și să-i aducem slavă și cinste pentru că este credincios făgăduințelor Sale de a-Și binecuvânta poporul.

Saturday, February 17, 2024: Ezra 5:1-17 – Continuation of the Works at the Temple

The opposition during the reign of Cyrus delayed the work of rebuilding the Temple until the second year of the reign of Darius (520 BC). This means that 18 years had passed since the people returned to their country under Zerubbabel.

Under the influence of the prophets Haggai and Zechariah, the reconstruction work at the Temple resumed. Although people lacked passion for rebuilding the House of the Lord, the prophets Haggai and Zechariah, alongside Isaiah and Zerubbabel, motivated the people. Despite the opposition, the work was completed, but Tatnai, the governor on the other side of the river, tried to identify those who dared to resume the works, thereby bypassing the king's prohibition to continue the reconstruction.

Zerubbabel and Joshua stated that they are servants of the God of heaven and earth, not of Persia. They explained that a great Jewish king, Solomon, built the first Temple, but because of the sin of the Jews, God punished them for their lack of loyalty.

Tatnai suggested to the emperor to check if Cyrus, the former emperor, had allowed the Jews to resume the construction of the Temple. This endless series of investigations demonstrates that the Temple in Jerusalem was rebuilt despite the opposition of the great kings of the time.

Beyond any human authority, God influences people to fulfill His plan. This reality is meant to confirm the fact that the Lord is the true God.

This morning let us worship before the God of heaven and earth and give Him glory and honor for being faithful to His promises to bless His people.
