Marți, 16 aprilie 2024, Iov 31:1-40 – A treia parte a monologului lui Iov

Aceasta este ultima parte a monologului lui Iov, capitolele 29-31. El continua să prezinte argumentele nepihănirii lui. De data aceasta folosește de 22 de ori cuvântul ,,dacă”: ,,Dacă am umblat cu minciuna… să mă cântărească Dumnezeu…” (vers. 6)

,,Dacă mi-a fost amăgită inima de vreo femeie… atunci nevasta mea să macine pentru altul…” (vers. 9-10).

Acest condițional ,,dacă” este urmat de potențiale pedepse foarte aspre, dovadă a faptului că Iov spune adevărul : ,,…să mi se dezlipeasca umărul de la încheietură…” (vers. 22).

Cine ar avea curaj să se așeze sub o astfel de pedeapsă dacă nu ar spune adevărul după ,,dacă”? Faptul că Iov a prezentat 22 de astfel de exemple pune în evidență viața lui curată și intenția de a trăi fără prihană.

În versetul 35, Iov exclamă: ,,Oh! De aș găsi pe cineva să mă asculte! Iată apărarea mea iscălită de mine; să-mi răspundă Cel atotputernic. Cine-mi va da plângerea iscălitaă de potrivnicul meu?” (vers. 35)

Acest om neprihănit se simte singur, uitat de toți oamenii, inclusiv de Dumnezeu. Probabil i-a trecut prin minte faptul că nu s-a meritat să trăiască în neprihănire pentru că Dumnezeu nu-l bagă în seamă.

Cu această stare de amărăciune își încheie monologul.

Dumnezeu i-a raspuns, i-a luat apărarea, l-a binecuvântat mai mult decât a fost înainte, doar că încercarea nu se terminase.

Este o vreme pentru încercare și ea va ține până la ultima clipă, însă Dumnezeu nu îngăduie mai mult decât omul poate purta. Pe măsura suferinței a fost și răsplata, binecuvântarea și restaurarea.

Să ne rugăm în această dimineață pentru răbdare, înțelepciune și încredere. Practicând aceste virtuți, ne vom sfârși alergarea sub binecuvântarea Celui Atotputernic și veșnic credincios!

Tuesday, April 16, 2024: Job 31:1-40 – The Third Part of Job's Monologue

Chapters 29-31 constitute the last part of Job's monologue. He continues to present his arguments for his righteousness. This time he uses the word “if” 22 times: “If I have walked with falsehood… let God weigh me…” (verse 6)

“If my heart has been seduced by any woman… then let my wife grind for another…” (verses 9-10).

This conditional “if” is followed by potentially very harsh punishments, evidence that Job is telling the truth: “…let my shoulder blade be wrenched from its socket…” (verse 22). Who would dare to endure such a punishment if they were not speaking the truth after “if”? The fact that Job has presented 22 such examples highlight his pure life and his intention to live without reproach.

In verse 35, Job exclaims: “Oh! If I could find someone to hear me! Here is my defense, sealed by me; let the Almighty answer me. Who will give me the complaint sealed by my adversary?” (verse 35)

This righteous man feels alone, forgotten by all people, including God. It probably crossed his mind that it was not worth living in righteousness because God does was not paying attention to him.

With this state of bitterness, he ends his monologue.

God answered him, defended him, and blessed him more than before, but the trial was not over yet.

There is a time for trial and it will last until its very last second, but God does not allow more than a man can bear. The reward, blessing, and restoration was proportional to the measure of suffering.

Let us pray this morning for patience, wisdom, and trust. By practicing these virtues, we will finish our race under the blessing of the eternally faithful Almighty!
