Joi, 15 iunie 2023, Deuteronom 12:1-32 – Repetarea legilor și poruncilor

Poporul a intrat în Canaan și Moise a repetat o mare parte dintre legile și poruncile scrise în cărțile Exodul și Levitic: ,,să le păziți și să le împliniți… în țara Canaanului”. Dumnezeu i-a poruncit lui Moise să distrugă toate obiectele de cult ale popoarelor din Canaan pentru a elimina ispita de a se închina în fața acestor zeități păgâne. Mai mult de-atât, ritualurile păgâne foloseau jertfele umane, trecând prin foc fiii și fiicele lor în cinstea zeului amorit, Moloh (Levitic 18:21). Acceptarea acestei restricții din partea israelienilor făcea dovada unui deplin devotament față de Dumnezeu.

Apoi, Dumnezeu i-a spus lui Moise că va alege după intrarea în Canaan un loc unde va fi așezat Cortul Întâlnirii. Aceasta vorbea despre unicitatea închinării, arderile de tot, jertfele, zeciuielile, cele dintâi roade, darurile alese…

Practicarea sacrificării copiilor este trecută ca unul dinte motivele pentru care Regatul de Nord a fost exilat. Regatul de Nord, Israel, a fost distrus în anul 723-722 î.Hr. de către regele asirian Salmanasar V, fiul celebrului rege asirian Tigalt Pileser III (2 Împ. 18:10). El a atacat Samaria și după 3 ani de asediu a cucerit-o, a distrus-o și i-a risipit pe evrei printre popoare.

După 254 de ani și 19 regi, Israel, care luase naștere într-un context al răzvrătirii, este distrus. Și dacă nu ar fi fost slujirea prorocilor Ilie și Elisei, probabil că ar fi fost distrus mult mai devreme.

Vom începe această zi mulțumind lui Dumnezeu pentru că face din fiecare zi o prețioasă lecție de viață pentru noi. Apoi ne vom ruga Domnului să ne ajute să fim fideli, eliminând din viața și anturajul nostru orice lucru cu semnificație spirituală păgână. Vom face lucrul acesta cu multă responsabilitate, păstrând un mediu cât mai sigur pentru copiii pe care ni i-a dat Dumnezeu.

Thursday, June 15, 2023: Deuteronomy 12:1-32 – Reiteration of Laws and Commandments

The people entered Canaan, and Moses reiterated a large part of the laws and commandments written in the books of Exodus and Leviticus: “keep and fulfill them… in the land of Canaan.” God commanded Moses to destroy all the worship objects of the Canaanite people to eliminate the temptation to worship these pagan deities. Moreover, pagan rituals used human sacrifices, giving their sons and daughters to fire in honor of the Amorite god, Moloch (Leviticus 18:21). The Israelites' acceptance of this restriction was evidence of complete devotion to God.

Then, God told Moses that after entering Canaan, He would choose a place where the Tabernacle would be placed. This spoke of the uniqueness of worship, burnt offerings, sacrifices, tithes, the first fruits, selected gifts…

The practice of child sacrifice is listed as one of the reasons why the Northern Kingdom was exiled. The Northern Kingdom, Israel, was destroyed in 723-722 BC by the Assyrian king Shalmaneser V, the son of the famous Assyrian king Tiglath Pileser III (2 Kings 18:10). He attacked Samaria and after 3 years of siege, he conquered it, destroyed it, and scattered the Jews among the nations.

After 254 years and 19 kings, Israel, which was born in a context of rebellion, is destroyed. And if it weren't for the ministry of the prophets Elijah and Elisha, it probably would have been destroyed much earlier.

We will begin today by thanking God for making every day a precious life lesson for us. Then we will pray to the Lord to help us be faithful, eliminating from our lives and our environment anything with pagan spiritual significance. We will do this with great responsibility, maintaining a safe environment for the children God has given us.
