Miercuri, 15 februarie 2023, Geneza 43:1-34 – A doua călătorie a fraților lui Iosif în Egipt

Când s-a terminat grâul adus din Egipt, Iacov i-a trimis din nou pe fiii săi după hrană. Ei au refuzat, amintindu-i lui Iacov că nu pot merge în Egipt fără Beniamin. Pentru a-l convinge pe bătrânului lor tată, Iuda, al patrulea fiu al lui Iacov, s-a angajat să fie numit el vinovat dacă Beniamin nu se va întoarce. Este interesant faptul că Iuda, care avusese cu 14 ani în urma ideea să-l vândă pe Iosif în Egipt, acum negociază cu tatăl său pentru a-l duce și pe Beniamin în Egipt. Conștient că vor muri de foame dacă nu aduc grâu din Egipt, Iacov a acceptat cu multă durere plecarea lui Beniamin.

Când au ajuns în Egipt, frații lui Iosif s-au aruncat la picioarele lui, exact ca în visul avut cu 14 ani în urmă (37:7). Cât de diferită este viața de la o etapă la alta! Cu 14 ani în urmă au vrut să-l omoare, iar acum s-au aruncat la picioarele lui pentru a-i câștiga bunăvoința. Cât este de important să te temi de Dumnezeu și să trăiești sub ocrotirea numelui Său!

Văzându-l pe Beniamin, fratele său drept (ceilalți 10 erau doar frați de tată), Iosif a trebuit să iasă și să plângă într-o altă cameră de bucuria revederii fratelui său mai mic. Apoi au stat la masă, criminalii cu victima. În loc de răzbunare, Iosif le-a dat mâncare. Adevărul este că fiecare dă ce are. În acest context, versetul 10 din Psalmul 111 pune în evidență mai bine importanța temerii de Dumnezeu: ,,Frica de Domnul este începutul înţelepciunii; toţi cei ce o păzesc au o minte sănătoasă şi slava Lui ţine în veci.”

Este dimineață și urmează să facem o rugăciune prin care vom mulțumi lui Dumnezeu că repară ceea ce noi am stricat. Apoi vom continua rugăciunea cerând de la Tatăl ceresc înțelepciunea de a permite conștiinței să inițieze și să continue procesul pocăinței.

Wednesday, February 15, 2023: Genesis 43:1-34 – Joseph’s Brothers’ Second Journey to Egypt

When the grain brought from Egypt ran out, Jacob sent his sons to get food again. They refused, reminding Jacob that they couldn’t go to Egypt without Benjamin. To convince their elderly father, Judah, Jacob’s fourth son, offered to be held responsible if Benjamin didn’t return. It is interesting that Judah, who had suggested selling Joseph to Egypt 14 years earlier, was now negotiating with his father to bring Benjamin to Egypt. Aware that they would all starve if they didn’t get grain from Egypt, Jacob reluctantly agreed to let Benjamin go.

When Joseph’s brothers arrived in Egypt, they fell at his feet, just as they had in the dream he had 14 years earlier (37:7). How different life can be from one stage to another! 14 years earlier they wanted to kill him, and now they fell at his feet to win his favor. How important it is to fear God and live under the protection of His name!

Upon seeing Benjamin, his only true brother (the other 10 were half-brothers), Joseph had to leave and weep in another room at the joy of seeing his younger brother again. Then they all sat at the table, the criminals together with the victim. Instead of revenge, Joseph gave them food. The truth is that everyone gives what they have. In this context, Psalm 111:10 highlights the importance of fearing God: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who observe it have a sound understanding and his praise endures forever.”

It is morning and we are about to pray, thanking God for repairing what we have broken. Then we will continue to pray, asking our Heavenly Father for wisdom to allow our conscience to initiate and continue the process of repentance.
